Back in the AMG club
Just bit the bullet and purchased a black e63. I have AADD (automobile attention deficit disorder). In the last year and a half went from a 991 turbo to an R8, and just traded in an Alfa Quadrifoglio for the e63. I had originally wanted european delivery of either the e63 or the Panamera hybrid Turismo. Neither Porsche nor Mercedes could lock in a build date for the first week of June (I put the orders in January). I got itchy and picked up a slightly used black e63 in Florida. I think this will be my last dance with a gas aspirated super car. . I live in Atlanta and my window to drive freely without traffic is basically on Sunday mornings. Along with my Ducati and the previous autos I found myself driving them less and less. After this I think I will convert to electric with great self driving capabilities. I like to modify my cars and currently the car is getting laser shifters installed, windows tinted, and wheels painted. I plan on doing the Renntech tune later. I've learned alot from this forum and hope to pick your guys brains as I get more time with the car.

The Porsche is an all around performer. I bought the R8 after feeling the 911 had no soul. With a tune and the full 10 cylinders the R8 felt it just would not stop accelerating. It was a joy to drive. I put a Fabspeed exhaust on the R8- it was over the top. I had to start the car with the garage door closed. The Alfa is surprisingly quick, I felt that car belonged on the track. I loved the Alfa but needed just a little more space in the back for my 3 teenagers. (After a certain age they started to rebel against sitting in the back of the 911). I am hoping the e63s will be an all around performer. I think it will fill all my needs. The only question mark is mileage - I think it will drink up the gas like no other.

The “S” Responds
directly to throttle input. If you are hard on the throttle it will pass everything except a gas station. If you leave it on “C” it is incredibly boring to drive but it will reward you at the pumps... this Jekyll and Hyde persona is one of my favourite characteristics of the car... enjoy the car!

2018 E63S AMG
I’m seeing around 12.5 mpg around town for my short commute to work (~5 miles) plus misc errands. Fairly hilly around here so that needs to be factored in.
This is a mix of Sport+ and Comfort mode driving. Does anyone actually use Sport mode?
Mainly I think I’m using Sport+ just for the extra grrr in the exhaust note more than actually sporting around - though I’m still in the phase where I do tend to sneak in the occasional launch.
