Radar detector solution needed

Radar detector solution needed
So....apparently MB chose to put an ashtray in the console of the 2018 e43 amg but didn’t include a 12v outlet for a lighter/radar detector! Whisky tango foxtrot??? Who drives an AMG without a radar detector? Seriously.....
i just bought a 600 usd detector and it’s useless since the only 12v outlet is in the back seat and the cord is short.
Any suggestions before I return this detector?

I bought an extension cable to use in the meanwhile while I gathered the parts to do a hardwire installation.
All the parts are on hand now and I hope to get the hardwire completed this week or maybe next depending on how much spare time I can find.

The best detector is Uniden R3 and it is cheaper then 600$. That’s for easy installation windshield mount.
If you want custom installation which you end up paying over 2000$; go with Net Radar DSP or Escort Max Ci 360

Depending where you are I would look into getting some laser shifters such as ALP. More and more Smokies are using these now and a radar detector is worthless in that situation. I you go that route than I would get a built in unit and that would solve your wiring problem.

Of course a laser jammer with radar detector is the best solution. I am running Radenso RC-M with ALP my self. I also recommend it.
Like I said before, everything depends on the budget.

+1 for al priority been having the system for about 3 years now and went through the trouble of pulling the system out of my last car to put back in this one I loved it so much. Lifesaver

Not that I dont appreciate all the good info but someone should have just set me straight and made me aware that there IS a 12v outlet in the front of the cabin. I wonder how many w213 owners minds are about to be blown....wait for it..... yes, it’s on the passenger foot well near the left passenger knee. Yup staring right at me when I was searching for the fuse box to hard wire my detector. Doh.......
i know some of you missed it too don’t lie.

Don't have that 12 v outlet in the pass side in my car, but then again I have the 12 v in the ash tray, maybe it's just the cell pad charger cars that get this. Looked everywhere, cant find it.

Looked again this morning and couldn't find it.

I had looked earlier because in the VV video where Parker hooked up his Vbox it looked like he was plugging it in from somewhere near the passenger seat. After not finding anything I figured he was using an extension. But maybe, as his car is a month newer than mine they had since added it.
Hope I'm wrong and I'm just not looking in the right spot.
