Akrapovic exhaust coming soon for the E63 (W213)

Looks like they will be releasing a system for the W213 E63 models soon. No other information yet but for those that aren't familiar, Akrapovic makes some of the best exhaust systems you can buy for a car or motorcycle:

I had an Akrapovic factory system on both my M6 GC and RS7 and they both sounded fantastic. I have the AMG Sport's exhaust on my E63S and, while I know this won't be the popular opinion especially among my Audi brethren, I think this exhaust sounds even better. If Akra can improve upon the AMG Sport exhaust sound then it's truly going to be something special... even by their standards.

I had Akra on my F10 M5 and it easily made that car better but lets not forget how sad the S63Tu sounded in the F10 M5. The challenge to improve was easy but I do agree that Akra rocks with every thing they do. But in the case of the E63S I agree with Limey; its not going to be an easy task. For me personally I would want more sound not so much a change in tone. I dont think the cans from Akra will do that as Capristo didnt get there and I have had two sets of those on my prior Ferraris and they were very loud. The gains on the E63S didnt impress as much.

I have the performance exhaust on my E63 as well so I'm curious to know how their system will compare to the factory option too. I agree, it will be difficult to top it.

I've been driving a bit more in Race mode vs Sport+ lately, mainly to engage the Sport+ handling mode.

Not much difference in snarl and pops over Sport+, sounds great to me.

But, my question is, has anyone done any tests, Dragy, Vbox, Track Pace, of 0-60 times or 1/8, 1/4 mile with exhaust valves open vs closed?

The reason I ask is that there are times I'd like run a bit more stealthy but still be in Sport+ or Race mode. Of course it's a simple press of the button, but has anyone noticed whether there is a measurable effect on performance?

Everything that Akrapovic creates is of the utmost quality. There's no doubt in my mind that it will produce some moderate power gains, sound increase (without being obnoxious), and save a bunch of weight due to it's Titanium construction. And of course, a piece of art when you look at it.

I should be receiving updates on its release shortly.

No doubt

it will offer slight improvements in sound and maybe power. But as someone mentioned earlier you would easily be in for $5-6000 plus or more and I don’t see that offering any value given the current date of affairs with the factory performance exhaust already as awesome as it is. If your after more volume try heating up the exhaust system by running it hard in a canyon or at a track day. I have always noticed my mufflers are noticeably louder after their first track day. Up here in Toronto we have a road or two but no canyons to carve like in California...

Not sure it is needed for the E63. The AMG performance exhaust is pretty awesome.

I have one on my BMW HP4, $3500 for the motorcycle full Ti. But its stock, bike came with it.

BMW is coming out with a full Ti performance exhast for the M5 F90 as well suspect it will be Akropovic. $8-10k. M5 could benefit from it, E63s not so much. May be just weight reduction not sound improvement.
Do you care about weight reduction enough on a non-track daily driver to spend $10k so you can just point it out to others like a Porsche owner does ....

I heard the Akrapovic exhausts on the 45 AMG and I had to walk away from it. Sound was ridiculously loud. XD A simple downpipe made the car angry enough, heh.

Hoping the E63 is more refined.

The best or nothing
What do you think, would it be worth it if the parameters would be something like:

- Sound
- Power (10hp and 25lb-ft)
- Weight (30lbs savings)
- Price $15,000

At $15,000 no. It wont be at $15k though. The only two Akrapovic exhaust systems that went over $15k were the S63, 488, and Aventador units. If I was a betting man I'd say it'll come in around $8k which at that point I would consider.

The system is listed on their website now as well as two tip options (matte and gloss carbon). Also, they have a sound clip of the stock and their system

https://www.akrapovic.com/#!/car/products?brandId=25&modelId=950&yearId=5106&phaseI d=1

Item description:

"Perfectly formed using specially developed ultra-lightweight titanium alloys, this Akrapovič Evolution Line (Titanium) exhaust is designed to replace the performance exhaust fitted to the Mercedes-AMG E 63 and E 63 S. It is finished with hand-crafted carbon-fibre tailpipes in matte or high gloss finish, visually split with a newly designed cast titanium part. This stunning system also includes other parts cast at the in-house foundry, featuring an active X connection and an additional pair of exhaust valves behind the rear mufflers, designed to provide optimal control of the exhaust sound for the best listening enjoyment. The system retains the signature AMG sound, while making it even throatier and richer, and it provides great acoustic feedback both inside and outside the cabin. An increase in performance and torque through a broad rpm range and a significant weight savings of over 45% makes this a very serious performance upgrade. With optimized gas flow and reduced back pressure, it allows limitless tuning options. Because it is ECE type-approved with no need to remap the ECU or add any other parts, it has a simple plug-and-play installation. "

I much prefer the stock Performance exhaust sound vs the Akrapovic exhaust based on the sound clips on their website.

Pricing on the Akrapovic Evolution Exhaust for the W213 E63 AMG is set - $8,735 with the gloss carbon tips and $8,685 with the matte carbon tips. Power figures have not been released yet but I will update this thread once they do.

The units from the first shipment from Akrapovic in Europe will only go to those who place pre-orders. New shipments would roll in every 2-3 months after one another. As Akra's largest dealer in the U.S. we have many allocations and pre-orders are being taken now.
