Love my wagon but...

I'm starting to think about another car due to my back pain. This is a very difficult decision to make or even think about but it may be necessary. Any thoughts on what I should do? Car has 2K miles on it, $116K MSRP, White/ Black, sports seats, sports exhaust.

what about those back support car cushion ? Would that be something worth looking into ?

I can only think of Lexus/Volvo and perhaps MB S class have better/comfy seats than the E class. For sure, Audi/BMW/Porsche seats are no better as I had experienced in those brands.

maybe try a regular e-class without sports seats ? I have a ml63 and the seats are a little rough after 2 hrs or so... the sport seats in the E550 cab are torturous after a while too... I should have gotten the regular seats...

The issue seems to be how low the seat is in the car and how short the seat bottom is. I have a memory foam cushion but that seems to just make the bottom even shorter.

I know exactly what you mean. You should try SUV then. They are much better for your back as the weight distribution is much better.

I'm 6-2 and my back is sometimes questionable... SUV is much easier to get in and out of.... and the ML63 aka GLE63 is still fun to drive

Was looking at the GLC63. May work for me if I decide to stay with Mercedes Benz. We already have a GLC300 so I know I'm good with the basic seating position. Should I trade or private sell my car? Any idea what fair trade in would be?

The GLC63S is bad a$$--- if the seating setup works Id got that route.

As for your car, there was 12% or so from msrp to triple net (what the dealer paid MB) or 102k so now that its used and cant be leased, I fathom wholesale on that car is gonna be a hit at 92k. You will definitely want to see what a dealer will offer on trade as there is more incent for a higher actual cash value on trade if they can make a deal.

I will start to ask a few local dealers what they'll offer for my car. Maybe one of the dealers active on here will come up with a reasonable offer considering that I'm going into another new car.

JD, see my thread in the 212 section. Similar issue being tall w/ short bottom cushion. Never had any car seats hurt my back and gave no back issues in general. I considered selling shortly after I bought it but tried to tough it out. I regret that, in the process of selling mine now. It blows but better to move on sooner.

Seat comfort is subjective, but I find the multi-contour seats on the BMW 5-series (same as the 7-series seats) to be by far the most comfortable (better than any of the E-Class seats).

Am 6’3” and the performance seats fit me just fine. My wife has a bad back with a couple surgeries is also fine unless I go sport plus/race. For a bad back coinicidently, a firm lateral fit is actually much better than a softer, wider seat (such as in the S-class).

That said you will take a bigger hit selling the car, so here are a couple of options you could try first. Be warned, they could be considered heresy
1. Bring the car back to stock height.
2. Switch to 19” wheels perhaps with all-season tires. You’ll loose performance but gain a softer ride. Should still beat a GLC63. After switching from snows I realized how much softer the sottozeros were than the PS4s’.
3. Check with MB to see if the Air pressure on the Airmatic can be adjusted (there is typically a range)
4. Is seat cushion is fully extended?

How about swapping out the wheels for 19" ..... would be relatively cheap and might help.................

think sitting up a bit higher would be helpful for you.. GLC63 or wait for the 2020 GLE AMG if you can... full redesign, should have MBUX and more..

Would the Regular seats work better than the sports seats? Maybe you can find someone who would trade cars because they wanted the sports seats and were not able to get them or whatever. Might be worth doing a post on that if you're interested in that idea. I don't really find the ride too bad on my car and the roads in Rhode Island are pretty bad. I thought it would be a worse ride but it's not. It's no worse than a car like a Toyota or Honda accord. I run 40 psi in the fronts and 35 in the rears cold. I have the PSS 4 tires, all stock.

My issue isn't with the ride quality or the seats being to firm. My issue is with the overall entry and seating position. I can't be the only person having these issues. I practically fall into the car and have to claw my way out!

We went to a restaurant today with my friend and we sat on these stools. After 15 minutes, my friend said they were very uncomfortable and he wanted to move to get a better place.
I told him I didn’t feel anything because I’m used to suffering from my Mercedes.
