"Hood Emblem"
I bought the AMG hood emblem piece to replace the regular black 3-pointed star emblem. Any ideas / suggestions on how to remove the "hood" emblem on the E63 (which is actually no longer on the hood itself) without removing body panels/bumpers/etc? On older models, and even the regular W213 the emblem is on the actual hood, so it's really easy to pop off...

Unfortunately, I have been told that the bumper needs to be removed! I bought a new hood emblem as well, and it has been sitting in my garage for a year now!

1. Pull the three clips off each side of the wheel wells to pull back the plastic.
2. There are two screws inside the wheel well on each side that attach the side of the bumper to the fender, remove those.
3. Open hood, there are 6 torx screws on the front of the bumper that run along the hood line.
4. Remove the rubber weather stripping on the front
5. There is one screw on each side above the headlight that attaches the fender to the bumper.
6. Under the car, you need to remove the front two skid plates, done with a socket wrench, when you get the bolts off, slide the front one forward and the back one back to slide them off the Jack point.
7. There are a bunch of smaller bolts that attach the bumper along the bottom that need removing. Maybe 6-8 or so.
8. After the skid plate is off, there are two big mounting points On the bumper that you have to reach from underneath to get to, think right along the bumper line where the car.
9. Before you pull the bumper all the way off, the right fender has a connector for all the parking sensors and the front of the bumper has the temp sensor that you need to unplug.
I think that is everything...

Would anyone be able to post pictures of the installed standing emblem, by chance? Since the flat emblem isn't on the hood on the 63, I'm not sure whether it would look ideal or not.

MBWorld Fanatic!
I am shocked they make you remove the bumper to remove this. BMW emblems are just held on with 2 grommets. Just insert trim tool or credit card and pull up….takes 15 seconds.

AMG E63 Hammer Wagon. Alfa, Rover, Ferrari, Porsche.
Coincidentally, I was considering switching my three pointed star emblem to the AMG emblem as they’ve started doing on the new C63. The three pointed star seems redundant with the big one on the front. I have to remove my front bumper to install some painted reflectors on my 2021 wagon anyway, so looks like it would be the time to do it.

Thanks Alps. Here's the part on mbusa's parts site: https://mbparts.mbusa.com/oem-parts/...ign-0008170708
Still a question as to whether it will work on the E63's bumper, but since I'm removing my bumper anyway, I suppose it's worth $43 to find out... I'll keep everyone posted.
BTW, here's a thread over on the C63 board with a bit more info on the AMG badge: https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-c63s-...od-emblem.html
