Has This Ever Happened to You?

Hi all,

So I was on my way home from work this evening and I passed this Porsche in the right lane. Didn't think twice about it but the one light on this road just happened to turn red. I started slowing down and then it turned green and the Porsche, which was farther back, sailed by me. I accelerated normally and caught up to the P car doing about 80. He then matched my speed and then took off. Now I would have liked to run with that car but mine only has about 570 miles so it's still in break-in mode so I didn't. I just kept cruising at my same speed but I thought to myself that this is no way to "lose" but I don't want to potentially damage my wagon by not following the break-in procedure. I'm not really a street racer but encounters such as this? A bit frustrating as I'm sure the person thought they smoked the e63s but it's just not the case. Oh well, maybe next time the wagon will be good to go and we'll see what happens.

What's a break-in period? Unleash that beast! Although I'm a believer of driving a car as you plan on doing so from the get-go. Get your miles on that thing and go find that Porchse, and report back

I think it was a Carrera 4s cabriolet. As it accelerated away it didn't seem as quick as I thought it would be and the exhaust sounded like it was hampered by mufflers stuffed with cotton. Anyway, it seems that this is the norm as I also had a fart can machine blow past me a few weeks ago while I was doing about 40mph. I laughed at that one and hoped he/she didn't smack into another car down the road.

HAHAHAHAHA...……..Yea I really want to but since these things save everything you do in it I just don't want some problem where I'm blamed for not breaking it in according to the manual. Once it's got over 1k miles I won't let this happen again regardless of the outcome. From what I've read the E63s sedan and wagon will walk most of the p cars except the high zoot turbos and even then, they will put up a good run. Tuned, the e63s may even pull the move on those too.

I wouln’t worry too much a break-in period. I guess i have never observed it
The engine doesn’t need it anyways and it’s really only for other mechanical parts in the car.

This happens to me a lot, like 2x a month. Its only happened once in the AMG but happens a lot with my Porsche or my old M4. Most of the time I'll rev the engine a few times and pretend like we're going to race and then let the other guy (its always a guy) make a fool of himself by just driving normally while he blasts off into the distance. One dude in a Civic even got pulled over by a cop a couple of years back and it was a lot of fun for me to drive by and laugh.

I have a guy in a 2010ish Maxima that tries to race my S6, at least once a month. We travel the same back roads home and he slows way down in front of me and then takes off like a bat out of hell. I can only assume he doesn’t know what an S car is and assumes I’m in a A6. In his mind he’s the king on road. I can only assume it will continue when I get my “E Class” LoL.

Better fallow the break-in you will have plenty of chance to safely show the E63s magic. Many “connesseur” recognize us and want to proved something... specially some Tesla hower... 😆

Just remember to turn off the "emergency brake assist" if you decide to smoke past him, otherwise the car may slam the brakes on you.

I raced an e55 "black series" a couple days ago in my e63S and despite the infamous ebay moniker I beat him... he must have been sleeping at the wheel cuz I know the black series E55 should have destroyed me lol!!

I think there is a hint of sarcasm in Peter's post.

I found during break-in that most cars around me barely gave me a second look. I guess they would never think twice that a station wagon could smoke them. That said, I just had to kill a Panamera off the line for the thrill. I didn't even floor the car and was in the lead by the traffic light lol
