Took out a C63 S AMG Coupe for a long test drive - drove it on old, warn out, rough, single lane country roads in "race" - apart from the interior rattles car handled bumps fine. SA said E63 ride quality is less harsh! This is fantastic because I found the C63 to be perfectly fine. Didn't do myself any favours though; wait is even more killer now. Hang in there lads - will be well worth the wait.

Following up on my post re trip from SD to LA and back following return of the car after CEL repair.

Trip went great, car is a dream to drive on this kind of trip. No new CEL, car ran fine, and I averaged 19.7 mpg for the round trip.

About 50/50 driving manual and cruise. Mix of slow traffic and ~80 mph - thankfully more of the latter.

Hoping the CEL issue has a stake through its heart now.

He might want to know that the car won't actually be $121,204, either...

Looking at Autotrader, there are at least 3 dealers who are optimistically listing 2019s.

Hi, all. New member here. Came here looking for hints as to why my MY 2019 E63S has been sitting at the port in Baltimore since late August. Clearly I came to the right place.

My wife had a series of 3 GL's until last year, but this was my first time ordering a build-to-order car, and my first AMG.
I ordered my car in June, and was given an early August build date, and told that the car could arrive as early as the last week of September or beginning of October. I was warned by my salesperson that the builds on the AMG's are sometimes delayed due to short supply of AMG-specific equipment that may only be produced in batches when there is a certain amount of demand. So, I patiently waited until late August to contact the dealer about the status of my car. I was thrilled when I was told that the car had arrived in Baltimore. Less so, though, when I was told that there was no release date for the car, no pricing information on the 2019 cars, and no knowledge of when the cars would be released from port. I waited 3 more weeks to contact them again, got the same exact reply, and then emailed again yesterday. Same reply. Same denial of any knowledge whatsoever of what is going on. And this from a very long-term, senior salesperson at one of the country's highest volume MB dealers.

I'm sure my experience is not unique, but it sure is frustrating. Has anyone else received hard pricing info on their not-yet-released or ordered-but-not-arrived cars? I am beginning to lose confidence that the dealer is acting in good faith given the information presented in this thread.

There's nothing your dealer can do but relay the information they are told by MBUSA. This is a MBUSA issue/decision. Clearly many of us are in the same situation and have also not received concrete info from dealers. What in this thread has made you lose confidence in what your dealer has told you? I havent seen one person post saying they have any more detailed information than you have received, except that the cars are set to arrive to the dealerships in November or December.

Well, it certainly seems that by August, when this thread originated, there was information available to dealers that the E63's wouldn't be released until December. Why is that common knowledge among members here but my dealer is claiming total ignorance as of yesterday? That's all. I have ordered a number of build-to order Porsches and my dealer was always very transparent about the entire process. When I wanted to order a limited-run car they were very up-front about the prospects for getting a build slot, how long it might take, what anticipated dealer markups were likely to be, ie. all the information I needed to make an informed decision about whether I wanted to proceed. I just don't like being jerked around and I am wondering whether the dealer is jerking me around with proclamations of ignorance.

Welcome to the VPC gulag! There is no question that the ever-moving release timelines for the 2019 have appeared in various powerpoint presentations. I don't know who has access to that information. But it has been posted here on the board, which is telling. It has also changed a bit over time. And there is also apparently a history here where cars are not always released according to the timeline (as some have said). I think that an experienced dealer would have said, "here is the likely schedule for production and delivery, but possible that the cars will not be immediately released - there is a history of MBUSA holding cars and we don't have control over that." No question that some dealers gave that message to customers. And clearly that has occurred and the timeline has slipped. But no question that the dealers want to release the cars and make customers happy. And it is not the dealer's fault that MBUSA is not being transparent about the reason for holding these cars. It does make a difference, obviously, if we knew. But if it is a CEL fix, for example, they might not want us to know about it. My view is that someone was late doing the emissions submission - as we are still waiting for them.

Dealers were told Q4 2018. The graphic seemed to indicate December by the way it was all spaced out, but you can search on this forum in other model-related threads for representations (either first hand or otherwise) from dealers saying November, some saying December....When you ordered the Porsches, were they subject to being held up at the VPC en masse like here? Were the subject to newer emissions regulations or CARB certifications? How do you know you are comparing apples to apple with how PCNA operates and how MBUSA does. The fact that the dealer may not be able to provide you with the detailed information you are seeking -- because they themselves dont have it -- doesnt mean they are holding out on you. Initially dealer reps on this thread and other said they still heard late September was a possibility. Obviously that didnt happen.

Im not begrudging you being frustrated -- many of us are. But I wouldnt let anecdotal evidence in this thread serve as a basis to accuse your salesperson/dealer of jerking you around.

From the GLC43/63 forum:

From my SA - Despite the fact that our ship arrived safely, we are at the mercy of the US Government clearing our newest models for release. Every new arrival must now be re-certified...thank you VW and Diesel-gate...with a watchful eye on emissions, before being released. We will continue to put pressure on Mercedes-Benz Distribution, and I will continue to monitor and keep you posted. From new car Sales Manager -

I just called distribution & here is the latest info:

2019 GLC 43/63….. November ( not sure when in November).
2019 CLS 450 …November
2019 G500 late October
2019 G63 mid December
2019 S560…. October
2019 S560X Maybach …November
2019 E63…December
2019 GLS 63 ….late October
2019 GT series …December
2019 GT4….1st ¼ of 2019
2019 C 43 class…November
2019 C63 class….December
2020 GLE order banks will open probably in December

Do you read that as anytime in December or early December? Just asking bc he seems to quote “mid” and “late” for some models.

Obviously I wasnt privy to this conversation or email first hand, but my guess would be anytime in December is what was meant. I think putting "mid" or "late" or "early" is just MBUSA trying to give the dealers more "clarity" -- to either soothe the dealers, for the dealers to turn around and placate the customer and/or both.

Gotcha. Regardless of Nov or Dec...at this point we’re almost there. A touch more or less frustration doesn’t really move the needle I guess. Ugh.

I think the next friend or acquaintance that asks me "so when does your car get here," I'll have to lie and say that the car is here but I am not revealing it until November or December during a made for TV primetime special.
