That is correct. I feel bad that some of you guys that ordered E63 get the news from here instead of Dealer but I think transparency and expectations are very important. Is better to know now that you may get your car in December that to find out in October.
All the dealers are aware about the info I posted and i'm wondering how many managers told their customers about the possible December delay.
Anyway MBUSA and dealers are going to get the huge sales hit this year because of all the delays.

The problem is we are buying in the performance not production sector. MB realizes their sales will consist of proportional higher non-AMG models. More volume, albeit lesser margins, equals more profit.
They know we may ***** and moan...but, in the end, they also know we want/need what they have.
At the end of the day it about making money. As much as we hate, it’s smart business sense. I’m sure there are a lot more sensible businessmen waiting for their regular E classes than us.
That being said if it were my company I would satisfy my most insatiable customers first.

Just got word from my SA: E63 will likely be released in December, along with GTC, G63 and SL. He said government certification process is to blame. GLC, C, CLA, GLA get the testing first not to clog up the yard. All new year models get held for testing. Higher volume units get first approval. He states its the government, not any brand, and Volkswagen set this system in place, it is their fault. He's confident BMW and Porsche 2019's are also being held in a similar fashion, with their own release schedules.

Now I’m really torn. The M5 CE is very nice. Pleasantly surprised with the extra headroom the carbon fiber roof adds. Back seats seemed rommier as well. I thought it sounded pretty damn good been 6 months since I drove the E63 though. I damn near pulled the trigger, but came home to sleep on it.

This has been the most frustrating experience of my life. Ordered my 2018 E63S in Nov 17. But change over to MY19 messed everything up. So it was converted to a MY19. It was built in Aug, shipped and off-loaded in Baltimore last weekend. Now I have to wait until maybe December? 13 months? Now the car gets to simmer in the sun, get pelted with acidic rain, exposed to salty air, possible hurricanes, ice storms, plagues of locusts? And what will MB offer us? probably a free travel coffee mug.
My E63 has been at the Baltimore VPC since mid July. Can anyone confirm how they are being stored?
just outside in the elements with some plastic on the fenders and hoods, or are they inside or under some canopy?
cheers

Mine was in Baltimore from June 6th until late July. I was told that mine was stored inside, but who knows for sure? I did have some water spots on the panoramic glass roof that was visible in certain lights and reflections when the surface was dampened. This, of course, could have been formed while waiting at the port in Germany as well? Took some elbow grease to remove, but there nonetheless.

'18. I think I have the last delivered '18 here on the forum!
I was offered to convert it to a '19 since it was so late, but now I'm glad I did not since I actually like the '18 steering wheel better, and don't need it heated out here in Cali.

If Mercedes follows the other German OEMs, high value vehicles are stored enclosed. They are routinely started and repositioned to keep the tires round.
Unfortunately for us, there are even higher value vehicles that need storage slated for release around the same time. I hope that doesn’t mean ours are kept outside if they run out of room.

The one thing I might add for those who are considering bailing out is you have to tell yourself this... regardless of the fact if you ordered 12 months ago or 5 months ago.. we are now here in September and from this point, knowing for those who ordered the E63 that your car will be here December at the latest, if you was either buying this car to have for many YEARS or even leasing it for 3 years.. why would 3 months make you give up on your first choice IF the plan is to have it for YEARS to come?
You can be upset.. but also can’t let emotions get the best of you. It’s a car. Like someone else said you don’t want to be that guy next Spring in your second choice because you got emotional at the system.. if you ever ordered from MB you know the high volume cars are always released first and AMGs go last.. so if you set your expectation to that you should be fine... or order during a different time of year.
Stay strong. No matter what we all ordered it should be arriving in a matter of weeks or few months.
