I've also been informed that there is no indication of any "goodwill" program this time around...some of you mentioned this from last year, where two services were given out to certain owners of delayed models.
I've inquired about this, the answer was a resounding "no"

Just got a call back from MBUSA Customer Relations. They are saying the E-Class delays are being caused by German regulations and they have no idea when they will be released.

MBWorld Fanatic!
If I had a dime for everytime I thought German regulations went a little too far....well.....

other than it’s a German company I’m trying to figure out why German regulations would affect a car for the US market... barring CARB or EPA having a weed up their respective butts about the same issue

Also—2019s have hit the road in Germany already, no? @f1mike28 (Michael Kubler) has had his for a couple of weeks already I think?

yeah I think I smell something fishy. Kind of like airlines blame every delay on weather or the FAA, even when you can look out the terminal and see wires hanging out of the engine that just fell off the wing of the plane. 😬

This has affected VW, BMW, Audi, and numerous others. I know VW and Audi have actually started renting extra space to store cars that aren't WLTP compliant yet.

This likely has to do with WLTP, the new Worldwide harmonized Light vehicles Test Procedure the tree-hugging a s s f u c k s in the European Union and United Nations conjured up. This new testing regime takes effect in September, 2018. Vehicles registered before September, 2018 are apparently exempt, so some deliveries are expected.

Personally, I think the former head of VW should have been shot. Not because they cheated... I actually thought it was a clever way around ludicrous regulations that helped absolutely nothing ... and it was clever as hell. His fault was they got caught and now everyone has to suffer. Had they put a little more effort, eveeyone would have come out ahead.... people’s cars would still be reasonably priced, the tree-huggers would have continued to have a woody because they were “helping” somehow and WE WOULD ALL HAVE OUR CARS NOW—- not waiting for a bunch of bureaucrats justifying their jobs by holding up progress.

leave it to a government to screw everything up and suck all the fun out.

Anyways... government at work. I feel for all my EU-based OEM colleagues right now. This. Effing. Sucks.

I used to work for him. I agree completely. Despite the increased emissions, the numbers were far less than they would have been if the vehicles involved were all traditional petrol and not diesel.

It’s bad enough that we have California, that thinks it’s higher and mightier than the Federal Government— and it know better —and has caused, over all these years, to have added thousands of dollars to the cost of our cars

so, why wouldn’t it surprise me if the German government said that the German auto maker couldn’t sell cars ANYWHERE that weren’t compliant — even to a country like the US, which is not subject to (and probably doesn’t give a rat’s *** about) that law.

The lack of availability means more risk of grey market imports. To counter, you defer release in other markets.
I’m no expert, but this makes sense.

Just talked to my guy and he also confirms the image... he did point out that it’s all projected times that will more than likely change and how at the start of August the E300, GLC300 both had a tentative release of mid Sept and both came in August once things were updated. So in another few weeks to a month the outlook on every car could change. Currently, this information is based on “as of now”
Expect the worse, hope for the best.

What temporary car options exist out there to bridge the gap to December? Are there short-term leases available (6 months) or good long term rental options?

Sixt Rentals had some decent month to month options. I think Hertz and Avis offer monthly rental rates, too.

Look on Swapalease.com for short-term takeovers. That's how I ended up with my current C63 S. There were 7 months left on the lease when I assumed it, hoping to turn it in early for my new wagon.

This has been the most frustrating experience of my life. Ordered my 2018 E63S in Nov 17. But change over to MY19 messed everything up. So it was converted to a MY19. It was built in Aug, shipped and off-loaded in Baltimore last weekend. Now I have to wait until maybe December? 13 months? Now the car gets to simmer in the sun, get pelted with acidic rain, exposed to salty air, possible hurricanes, ice storms, plagues of locusts? And what will MB offer us? probably a free travel coffee mug.

All the dealers are aware about the info I posted and i'm wondering how many managers told their customers about the possible December delay.
Anyway MBUSA and dealers are going to get the huge sales hit this year because of all the delays.
