Opinion: E53
Hey Guys,
I placed an order for an E53 Coupe. Of course delivery got pushed till about January and even potentially later because I have the HUD on order.
In the meanwhile I've been watching a lot of reviews on the car and of the C63s. With the options that I want they both come out to about the same price 84k (E53) 83k (C63s).
Digging into it, I thought I was sure about the E53 but the 2019 C63S seemed to shorten the quality and feature gap between the C and E class.
The drivers assistance package, 360 Parking Cameras and premium package all seem to have caught up with the E class. The biggest differentiation I see is the dual screens vs the 12inch dash display and 10.3 inch C class layout. No Massage function on C class and no Cabin Fragrance. In terms of features not much else major I could see in that area as well the C63 get those cool Mini screen/buttons on the steering wheel.
In terms of drive-ability, def different feel with the Turbo 8 vs the Inline 6. The 19 C has a 3 stage suspension vs the Air Body Control on the E which without driving each is hard to tell how rough/stiff the C63, maybe some of you guys with the E63 that has Air Suspension can comment.
Based on the above I'm leaning on cancelling my order and ordering a 19 C63S but I wanted to get your guys opinion.

Considering no one here has an E53 and you're asking about whether you should instead order a C63S, wouldnt your question be more appropriately posed to those in the C63 (W205) forum? Im not saying you cant post here (obviously you can), but you might get more helpful feedback from the W205 C63S forum.

Initially that is what I was thinking as well but with the C class 3 stage AMG suspension and the interior trim options being available pretty much on both classes the gap doesnt seem very big here.

I have a changeable E53 ..he should be able to get one for mid late Dec.. he should be able to order for you unless HUD is a must
C63 coupe will be nice for 2019..new updates and 9 stage traction control system like the AMG GTR.. I have a blue one coming
If you want a deal let me know

I'm currently driving a C63s. You should get the C imo. The whole point of these amg cars (imo) is the V8. I'm upgrading to a 2019 E63s but I would not swap for a e53, not even close. Get a "real" amg.

I'm sticking with my E53 Cab order
I'm currently driving a 2014 E550 Cab (RWD). I put Pilot Super Sports on it. They will hold a full throttle start on a dry road and will corner carve with no complaints. Downside is 9000 mile life and three snow flakes will get the car stuck.
If you want a summer only car (or live south of the Mason-Dixon line) that is a lot of fun, get the C63.
Expect to buy a lot of tires. Perhaps Pilot Sport 4Ss.
I'm old, fat, bald, arthritic, and live in Massachusetts. I can't justify having a summer only car any more. I also want the additional inch or so around the drivers seat. I will impatiently wait for my E53 Cab with HUD.

Yea I live in Philly so the winters are bad here but not Mass. bad.
Reading the C63 forums it seems like alot of people are fine with the car in winter as long as you get winter tires. My E53 rims that I ordered had summer tires on it anyway so I'd have to get winter tires for that regardless of the 4 matic.
Honestly, i'm leaning the C63 direction, body style wise they just made it look alot more aggressive vs the E53 which has minor changes from the standard E class.

I was just trying to get you to reevaluate the basics.
The C63 doesn't just look more aggressive , it is.
It has a power loading of 8.6 pounds / horsepower.
With rear wheel drive, you will usually have more power than you can put to the ground at low speeds.
The E53's is 10.1 pounds / horsepower.
With all wheel drive, you can just plant your foot, even on a damp road.
This is a pretty big difference. On a nice day the C63 will be a lot more entertaining. On a rainy night, pulling out of a driveway into traffic, it will also be a lot more entertaining.

If I couldn't have my E63s and had to pick between the E53 vs C63s, I would probably choose the C63s. Comes down to personal preference of course. For me, the C63s embodies the AMG experience more than the E53 would provide. This is in terms of performance which to me is the primary reason I would purchase an AMG to begin with. Also the sound of the V8 is going to be much better than the sound of the I6. To me, the C63s looks better too. The smaller size can be a plus when maneuvering and parking, however, some may find this a negative if they need the interior space. The main thing I don't like about the C63s is the slapped on iPad look that the center display has. I really don't like that but not enough to go with the E53.

2014 E63S; AMS 100 octane ecu tune; edok tcu tune; BB intakes; dyno tuned
Will there be kids/car seats or boosters in the back?

Nope just me. back seat will not be used much. Agree with the above post as well bout the Ipad slapped on look. That really was my main reason because I liked the interior look of the E's dual screens better. Petty I know.. but that was the main driver.
