I can get that information for you, lend a bit of patience. Given the weight of the materials we use, I don't foresee a huge difference... but will confirm.

Should be a nice piece, the key here is gaining sound and tone on an already almost perfect OEM Performance Exhaust.

I would assume the gains are in the muffler themselves as the OEM car has no resonators so piping would be the same unless diameters have been changed??

Either way, I know there are few out here that want to swap out.

Our configuration is a true 3" with no pancaking, and yes, with rear sections much more optimized for flow. Factory is 2.75.

so then why didn’t you test it apples to apples and shift all the way into 9th at cruising speed with open valves (as opposed to stopping at 5th), as you did with valves closed? 🤔

pretty sure there’s a really good reason. 🤔
Shift points and gear were determined by the vehicle and the drive mode. Getting up to speed to enable 9th gear in sport+ (automatically) mode would not be realistic.

Appreciate your input, though

thanks for the borderline patronizing response. with all due respect Josh, then switch it to manual and run through the gears up to 9th with the valves open and post another apples to apples comparison.

i am a long-time AWE customer from my GTI and S4 days, and have paid thousands worth of your exhaust products. i am in no way disputing that your products are expertly manufactured and sound terrific on the exterior, but drone-free they were definitely not.

prove me wrong that you’ve managed to solve this for this exhaust, vs. just saying they’re not.

not trying to start **** here, just looking for transparency and an accurate representation of the product.

thank you.

Apologies my response was interpreted as such, was simply stating. I'm unsure what products you've equipped in the past, or when that took place, but in my experience the GTI systems do not have drone issues, nor do the B8 S4 Touring Edition and Resonated Downpipe combination (which is what's recommended for a drone-free experience) suffer, either -- that is if you're referring to the B8 generation.

Looking back at my previous post, and to my surprise, was indeed a typo -- I was not expecting significant weight differences between our configuration and stock as that would not be realistic with everything considered. This has been corrected.

With the valves open, forced into 9th gear, you can hear the rumble, but it does not cause interior resonance and/or discomfort.

I did not at any point think you were trying to start anything here, no worries.

Again, I apologize. We appreciate your support in the past.

Anybody have this exhaust in the Houston area? From the videos, I can't tell a difference vs the OEM performance exhaust, but exhausts are a difficult thing to record.

Not likely, I'm afraid, as it just released and are handcrafted-to-order.

Any chance you can do a direct comparison with a stock performance exhaust on video? Like someone mentioned earlier, I'm sure these are fine exhausts but the difficulty is going up a fantastic OEM exhaust.

Ah, unfortunately the factory exhaust was taken off of our wagon within the first day of its arrival, and I have a hunch it will never go back on. Maybe a comparison video will pop up courtesy of a driver in the near future.

To cure a bit of curiosity, though, stock (valve closed) on the APE is dead silent. Valve open has a decent growl.

SwitchPath™ v.s. APE, takes volume up in both modes about 30%, without inducing drone.

SwitchPath™ v.s. Non-APE, about 40% louder with valve open since we provide a valved h-pipe with controller. The stock h-pipe on that system is not valved.

Hope that helps

If only there was a tech savy soon-to-be e63s owner who had the time and ability to record high quality comparisons with high end video and audio recording equipment........I wonder how much benefit that would be to potential AWE customers!. Hint Hint

I should have this system installed Monday or Tuesday. The apparent tone change and sound increase demonstrated in your video was enough for me to pull the trigger, but I am actually hoping it's even louder in person.
