SwitchPath™ Exhaust:
At the intersection of sophistication and savagery lies the W213 AMG E63/S SwitchPath™ Exhaust.
AWE SwitchPath™ Exhaust Technology utilizes strategically placed valves in the exhaust to control tone and volume. Equipped with a valved H-pipe up front and valved resonators in the rear, the AWE SwitchPath™ Exhaust is capable of an attitude adjustment with the press of a button -- sophisticated to savage. Real quick.
Important fitment notes:
There are two options of the SwitchPath™ Exhaust, one for cars that came with the AMG Performance Exhaust (uses factory controls), and one for cars that did not come with the AMG Performance Exhaust. The version for non-AMG Performance Exhaust cars comes with the SwitchPath™ Remote (set of two + control box) and valve motors. Choose accordingly!
What’s in the box?
Complete SwitchPath™ Exhaust, SwitchPath™ Remote (if applicable), and all necessary installation hardware.
Data
I can get that information for you, lend a bit of patience. Given the weight of the materials we use, I don't foresee a huge difference... but will confirm.

I do not have access to lasers (those are the engineering depts. tools) , but I can make "pew pew" sounds if you wish.

I would assume the gains are in the muffler themselves as the OEM car has no resonators so piping would be the same unless diameters have been changed??
Either way, I know there are few out here that want to swap out.

Appreciate your input, though
i am a long-time AWE customer from my GTI and S4 days, and have paid thousands worth of your exhaust products. i am in no way disputing that your products are expertly manufactured and sound terrific on the exterior, but drone-free they were definitely not.
prove me wrong that you’ve managed to solve this for this exhaust, vs. just saying they’re not.
not trying to start **** here, just looking for transparency and an accurate representation of the product.
thank you.

thanks for the borderline patronizing response. with all due respect Josh, then switch it to manual and run through the gears up to 9th with the valves open and post another apples to apples comparison.

Apologies my response was interpreted as such, was simply stating. I'm unsure what products you've equipped in the past, or when that took place, but in my experience the GTI systems do not have drone issues, nor do the B8 S4 Touring Edition and Resonated Downpipe combination (which is what's recommended for a drone-free experience) suffer, either -- that is if you're referring to the B8 generation.
Looking back at my previous post, and to my surprise, was indeed a typo -- I was not expecting significant weight differences between our configuration and stock as that would not be realistic with everything considered. This has been corrected.
With the valves open, forced into 9th gear, you can hear the rumble, but it does not cause interior resonance and/or discomfort.
I did not at any point think you were trying to start anything here, no worries.
Again, I apologize. We appreciate your support in the past.

To cure a bit of curiosity, though, stock (valve closed) on the APE is dead silent. Valve open has a decent growl.
SwitchPath™ v.s. APE, takes volume up in both modes about 30%, without inducing drone.
SwitchPath™ v.s. Non-APE, about 40% louder with valve open since we provide a valved h-pipe with controller. The stock h-pipe on that system is not valved.
Hope that helps
