Stock vs Performance Exhaust

Stock vs Performance Exhaust
Are there any videos comparing the two? I haven't been able to find an E63 S WITHOUT a performance exhaust to test drive. The performance exhausts I have heard sound incredible. BUT, I'm under the impression the stock AMG exhaust may be enough and I can save some coin. Also, I have a 2017 M3 comp pack with the M performance exhaust which I honestly find to be too much, although it's a very different motor creating a very different sound.
For those of you with the performance exhaust, if you put it in the quietest setting how does the car drone on the highways? Tolerable?
For those of you with stock exhausts, is it bad *** enough when you get on it?

I found the same as above - on a test drive - no drone and very quiet during normal driving. Under load it opened up a bit but compared to my previous E92 M3 with OEM exhaust mod (which made it sound similar to the MPE) - still very quiet.

Stock exhaust here. If i would've ordered the car, would've ordered the amg exhaust, however. Even with the stock exhasut, car still sounded great...nice tone, and nice volume. Performance exhaust is louder though. You're good either way in my mind.
I now have catless dps and car is quite loud with still nice tone. Will have awe exhaust soon. Will then have full turboback situation going on... I'll report back on sounds.

Hi, driven this car for 2months, just to check how to tell you are having the performance exhaust or not. As during my purchase selection, don't have this exhaust option to select. I do come with the on/off flaps button but not very sure what exhaust is it, thanks.

If you have the button, it's the performance exhaust.

I went back and forth with the performance exhaust and ended up not getting it. I don’t regret not getting it. The stock exhaust is louder than the performance exhaust in comfort. So I’d describe it as this 1 out of 10 of volume... Stock Comfort/Sports + is 3/7 and Performance is 2/8. In sports plus my stock exhaust is way louder than my Ferrari so I wouldn’t discount it as lame or quiet by any means.

I too was dwelling on ordering or not the performance exhaust. The stock exhaust is loud as expected for a car with this power and segment. Ludicrous loudly with performance exhaust, if you consider that having a car that farts/pops is ludicrous, something that 30 years ago people would find something suited for tuners on Citroën saxo and the likes.
Anyway, I decided to order it because :
1) it's an AMG and people expect it to have it. Not having will leave you with a blank button on the central console and lower resell value
2) if you have it you can use it when you want, either for pure joy or for picking with other folks that think they have big cars
I don't see how the performance exhaust would be quieter than stock in confort mode and did not noticed that in real tests.
I have the acoustic package and still hear the engine in confort mode, specifically if I press hard the gas pedal. It looks like I'm in a rocket or plane starting to take off.
The performance exhaust is on when the button on the central console goes red.
BTW, I don't find it intuitive to have the button turn red. It should be green, like the auto start system. In the first months I had to double think if red meant on or off...

Red means "hot." Like when you switch to S or S+, the display shows a red-shadowed car. At least it's consistent.

Also, for kicks you can press the start-stop button without pressing the brake to turn on accessory, then toggle to Race mode, THEN press the brake with the start-stop button and get a treat.

Don't need all that fuzz. Press the engine start two times without pressing the brake pedal. May need more presses if you don't press with the correct timing. Then click on the performance exhaust button. Or anything else for that matter because this places the car in a pre-start configuration mode.

Yeah I understood the logic, but still think this is counterintuitive to general daylife experience. Specially when you then have just one button that when it's on it goes green. All the others go red...
