Auto Folding Mirrors Stopped Working

I believe the Mirror Fold setting is associated with the active User Profile. If you are using User Profiles make sure auto fold is "on" in every user profile you might be using.

I checked that and guest and my profile have the auto mirrors checked. I even reset and deleted the personal profile to no avail. I’ll next see the dealer as even mocha15’s fix doesn’t do it anymore. Thanks for the suggestion as I had not thought of that.

OMG thanks a bunch. 😇
Just car Saturday and it stopped working Sunday tried everything to no avail. Was going to dealer but they had an event when I got there. I went home. Checked forum and what do you know! Just did this and problem solved. 👏

I too have this problem--they work for awhile then for no reason do not work. In addition to the mirrors not folding intermittently there are a lot of glitchy things that I have with the infotainment system. For example; 1. I often use Apple Carplay for Waze. With Apple Carplay and the USB with a thumb-drive for music the thumb drive will be working and then stop for no apparent reason or sometimes it will not load unless I hit the media button and select the USB/thumb drive again.
2. I occasionally get the annoying woman telling me that I have exceeded the speed limit--it is clearly the Mercedes Nav or computer system (not Waze or my Escort Max 360ci). I go into "system" / menu options / voice alerts to make sure voice alerts are off and the voice alert option is set to off--I will then turn it on and then off again and that typically works but not always. (Thankfully she has been quiet for a while.) --I have gone into the Nav menu and nothing there seems to apply..
3. My voice control is spotty at best and finding Nav locations is horrible.
4. Fast-forwarding and pausing music on a thumb drive requires you to go into the menu and select "control"--this is ridiculous--there should be a dedicated button for these functions.
The infotainment and control through the computer is a nightmare in this car. I am pretty tech savvy but this car frustrates the hell out of me--the infotainment system really needs an overhaul.
All that said, I love the performance, the interior and looks. It is a great car but Mercedes could do a lot better regarding ride comfort options in order to reduce harshness when on pot-holed horrible winter beaten roads and the aforementioned infotainment system. [NOTE: Since setting tire pressures to 40 front 35 back the ride is significantly better.].

Out of nowhere, my mirrors stopped automatically folding in when I locked the car. It worked for about a month before it stopped doing it for no apparent reason.
I do not believe I changed any settings, and in fact I double checked to make sure that feature was still turned on.
Any suggestions on a fix?

Well it was worth a try. I think I may just do a reset on the vehicle and see if that works. (Earlier this week my GLE would not start CarPlay no matter what I did. I did a reset on it and it worked but it also erased all my media stuff )

Thanks, I have used this reset procedure twice now in 5 weeks. Never happened on any previous MB or any other car we have owned. My 2019 S 450 also has other software issues which are totally unacceptable, which the dealer has not been able to fix after two attempts and MBUSA has been a bad joke. They think it is OK to import $100,000+ cars with serious software issues and doing nothing about that.

Auto Folding Mirrors Stopped Working Fix
I did what someone suggested and turned the engine on, hit the fold in button at the top of the mirror adjustment on the drivers door and then after them folded in, I hit it again and they folded out. Then I shut the engine off, exited the vehicle and locked it....it worked! They turn in again automatically. HUGE THANK YOU TO THE COMMUNITY FOR ALL OF THEIR AMAZING HELP!!

I did this too and they worked. Although I’ve had to do it two more times since the first time. Any ideas why they might keep hanging up?

Update - took the car to the dealer for a different issue. The key fobs stopped working and couldn't open the doors or easily start the car. The fuse was out, but when replaced, the fuse quickly tripped. Mechanic tracked the problem to a chaffed wire in the headliner in the rear of the car. The dealer attributed the mirror folding failure to this chaffed wire. Go figure. But it is now working without any problems. So mirror folding failure may not be limited to a software problem.

Oddly enough on the same day mine stopped unfolding When I went to unlock the car on Monday I couldn't get the mirrors to fold out. I kept locking and unlocking and then finally I hit that little button on the door handle (above the right and left mirror select buttons) and they unfolded and then continued to work.

I took my car to the dealer who reprogrammed mirror folding. Hopefully it will work now. But the nav system has problems the dealer has been unable to fix so I have filed a lemon law claim.

I have a 2020 c43 and my auto folding mirrors just stopped working . I searched and found this answer. Just did it following these directions and the problem is fixed.
Thank you so much. It's very nice to have this forum where members can help each other's out!

hey has anyone encountered the disappearance of the folding mirrors option on the menu? yesterday I went to the car and thought I had left it open, but it turned out that the mirrors just did not fold. I can fold them with a button and it generally works, also the memory when I put the reverse gear and the mirror goes down, but it does not change anything and after closing the car they remain unfolded.
A year ago I had my main unit replaced so that the android car would work(i had a Mitsubishi unit and now I have Panasonic- which was coded to my car options) but until yesterday everything worked without any problems. I did a factory reset and still nothing.
any suggestion?

Sitting in the parking lot with my 2021 G550 and my mirrors would not retract when locking, even though they were set too.
Anyway, the fix for me, as it seems for others, was to hit the button to fold and unfold the mirrors. After I did that, everything is working as it should.

Thanks to this this thread for the useful information.
Unfortunately using the menu options didn't work for me, but manually folding and unfolding using the button on the driver's door did.
No idea why my wing mirrors stopped automatically folding when locking the car!

Mine just stopped working too! The manual button fix worked.
Interestingly it coincided with the nav (not on / never used) telling me randomly that the end of the traffic jam was ahead - scared the bejeezus out of me as I have NEVER heard the car talk before.

Just had the same problem tried factory reset and then the steps above, nothing worked until I manually folded the mirrors a few times, turned the car off and locked again from the outside and seems to have solved the issue for me.
