Yeah, mentioned the butt-lift to my wife.
Things got chilly real fast. After some thinking about it, I quickly mentioned to her that I was of course talking about the car - what else??
Thankfully, after some fast talking and some jewelry, things have warmed back up again.
Wow...I don't like anything about it and makes me feel really good about snagging my new 2020 wagon. Yikes. I'll deal with having to plugin my iPhone with a cord!

Ya same here. Really happy I got the 2019 one. Only thing I wish i had was the new steering wheel.

Just like BMW. The new ones don’t look as good anymore. That’s how I wound up at Mercedes after 20Yrs of BMW. I just couldn’t upgrade. I went to shop at Mercedes. Saw the C63S and was sold. Now with this I feel like it’s not an improvement of appearance. I don’t like the new front or the rear better than my 2019. I want the new tech and MBUX though. Those are moves in the right direction. The 2019 rear is not particularly beautiful, it. Is acceptable. The front is awesome. Somehow I don’t like the the GT like look of the front. If the GT63 weren’t so ugly it’s the one I would have got. It’s a fantastic car that was not blessed with the looks to along with all that awesomeness. Can’t have your cake and eat it after all.
one other thing is why do all the cars have to look alike? I like the distinct looks of the current E63S, now they all will look like different versions of the GT.
I really don't like the direction MB is moving. The taillights are ugly on the sedan. They look like the ones on a Maserati Quattroporte or Infiniti Q50. The entire lineup is now super generic and nothing is distinctive anymore.
And that new steering wheel... Everything is a touch button which will be a major pain to use.

gotta disagree on the comments regarding the GT63s. With the fixed wing up in the rear it is by far one of the nicest 4 door designs out there.
only one I put ahead of that and even the 2019 e63s would be the previous generation CLS W218.

The new cls looks like watered down crap.
Agree that the front of the GT63s is solid. My concern was the humpback profile.
The real issue why they aren't moving as much is the significant cost over a rather similar E63s. The similarly optioned GT63s over our E63s was $70k more with a lease price well over $3k a month
My next door neighbor has a GT63s. Same Selenite Grey Magno as my car. But honestly I like the looks of my E63s better.
He's had a number of other cars in the past couple of years before this including the M5 performance. He said he really likes the GT63. We haven't had an opportunity to take them out for a drive and swap, but I'm anxious to see if I feel any handling difference in the GT.

Probably in a parking lot where you'd notice the 4 wheel steering, but underneath the GT63 is for all intents and purposes mechanically identical to the E63 Wagon besides steering hardware added to the rear axle, a change that even Porsche only charges ~$2k for, so they would feel virtually identical.

true but it definitely looks a lot more special/exotic than an e63 which is a lot more ordinary. Similar to the previous generation cls63/e63 it was the same thing, just to a slightly lesser extent than the GT63/e63 hence the price bump from previous gen cls63 to GT63.
I agree the rear doesn’t look good, and I’ve analyzed it, the problem is completely fixed when ordered with the larger fixed wing. That gives the back of the GT a nice “butt lift” and the result is a stunning car from all angles IMHO.
with that said, it’s a ridiculous price jump from the e63 and it’s not worth it for essentially the same car with a more stylish design. They should of just kept it at the same minor increase in price as in the past between the cls63/e63, at least it made sense and wasn’t such a huge difference for just a little more style.

IMHO........nope. Doesn’t help. The inside it gorgeous! The outside, especially that designo brilliant blue mango MB used a lot to promote the car.......
(My compliments to aaronpass, I never knew we had that emoji.)

I have had both at the advanced AMG driving academy at COTA. Basically same car. You feel the difference when frogging the hell out of the car. The GT63S feels slightly faster. You can feel that power difference but at onlt tripple digit speeds. GT63S corners a little better and carries more speed out of the corners. It feels like the smaller car of the two. I previously had a C63S and the feel of the GT63 at speed is as if it was a C63S sized car. Chalk that down to 4 wheel steering. Daily Driving around even as spirited as you could get, from my track expirience you are not going to feel any difference. First of all these cars are both incredibly capable. The performance envelope is so large as to be pointless. You are going to pretty much going to have to be on race track to expirience that extra the GT63S gets you.
My point is GT63S does not drive significantly different than the E63S. It just doesn't. GT63S is for bragging rights. Just knowing you carry that much bigger stick which is reason enough to want the car. If you are parking you notice the GT63S is much easier to maneuver and that big car awkwardness you feel in the E63S in tight spaces like parking garages is not present in the GT63S. Hope that helps.

it’s more aesthetics than anything else that drive people into getting a GT63s over an e63s, as it basically replaces the previous cls63 which is now gone.
some just prefer the more “sedan” look of the e63s while others prefer the “coupe-sedan” of the GT63

Not really. It may have replaced the CLS in terms of form factor, but not in terms of target audience. The CLS63 was a money loser for AMG, at least in the later years. The GT model is a definitive step-up as it is an exclusive AMG bodied car, not a modified production Mercedes like the E or CLS

the tires. Almost every comparo doesn’t take into account that the GT63s handles as well as it does in large part to the Sport Cup 2 tires. A properly warmed up SC2 on warm pavement will just about allow you to drive the car upside down in a tunnel lol. They stick like glue. Put a set on the E63s then it’s an equal comparison. But the $$$ value of the E63s is beyond comparison.

I like the car alot but the back kills it after looking at it from the front. Doesn't make the premium over a regular e63 worth it. And they killed it by offering a 53 version of it as well. Should have just kept the cls63 which doesnt' look all that great either but better than the GT
