Good find! Really not loving the new headlight and taillight design - but then we are looking at some low res spy shot. The headlights just seem too big, they almost remind me of the R231 SL.

I gotta say, the cosmetic stuff is pretty mild. You really gotta split hairs to find any motivation or decision based on the cosmetic differences...the grill is the only thing of any significance IMO.

If I was still in the market for a wagon I would probably be basing my decision on the hybrid component, touch screen and MBUX integration, and that new tactile-only steering wheel. And hey, maybe they will start offering additional colors instead of just red, blue or grayscale.

That scared feeling you have after buying a 2018 months before the 2021s are unveiled, then being totally wrong and hating the 2021.

Happy man right now.

Quite the opposite for me...

IMO the GT 4 door models look great from the front but the roofline/rear doesn't quite gel. Now the E63 models seem to mimic much of the GT front end and hopefully get a power boost as well. The car will now be more modern than the GT 4 doors at a $60k discount which will make it the best performance deal of the AMG line-up.
Zero chance I would worry about something so ridiculously minor as tail lights

I think that looks pretty good! The one item that makes me happy (about buying the 2020) is that 2020 will be the last year of the bangs and pops - as “unofficially” confirmed when I did my AMG factory tour. The facelift will have the OPF filter in the exhaust to comply with new regulations in the EU.

Does the 2020 E63 S still have the bangs and pops? I hear the 2020 C63 S lost them (due to newer noise emission standards) and people were understandably disappointed.

@BC-2 Yes, mine does - I think the C63 lost them when they did the facelift...

Yes 2020 E63S pops and bangs. C63 lost it with face lift

Who needs the bangs and pops in the city anyway?

Going forward most cars will lose it. I noticed the GLE63 coupe much quieter.
2019-2020 E63 amg s might be the best of the w213 gen.

Because it's the appropriate soundtrack for a performance car and the AMG's simply sound better than anything else apart from exotics. BMW's, Audis and Porsches need aftermarket exhausts to sound proper

I do appreciate that when Audi HQ asked Audi USA if they wanted the extra 10 horsepower but quieter single exhaust mode V10 of the 2020 Euro R8 or the same 602hp and louder, two-stage exhaust of the 2017-19 they chose sound.

we don’t have EU regulations here, why can’t we have our obnoxious cars without the filters? Isn’t it cheaper too?

When are they going to get with the times and stop putting silver lips on their wheels.

I find the new one looks a bit weak compared with the original. Also I don't like the new headlights. The previous two-stripe DRL was much better.

The giant tail lights on the rear look retro to me. Remind me of the W212 E-Class. With LED lighting they don't need to be this big. If they wanted to do something different they could have done something more slim and modern like on the AMG GT63.

This car looks like an A-class but slightly less sharp.

this seems like a photoshopped version.. mainly because the headlights do seem too small and far away from the grill. I’m with you though, I like the previous headlight design with the two-stripes. I feel like it looks less aggressive now.

Because it sounds good and is fun.
My wife insisted i get the optional performance exhaust (2019). I am sure glad I listened to her.

Yup. $50 says the car actually has them though.

Really hate the direction that Mercedes is going with their headlights/taillights. They all look the same, ugly and cheap.

I do like the quad exhaust tips and Panamerica grille/front end, but the lights are enough to put me off the facelift. The E63s needed a butt-lift but this ain't it.

Funny thing is I was hoping the LCI would make my decision easier between the E63s vs the M5, but I don't like the M5's LCI lights either so it's back to square 1 for me

eh I know the back of the e63s doesn’t look that great, but it’s certainly nicer/more refined than the horrible rear end of the m5 (looks like it’s lifted as high as an SUV, and boxy shape with Hyundai tail lights)

what you can do, is get a prefacelift e63s and eventually add the facelift front grill/rear quad tips, would probably look great on it.

wonder if the rear lights on the face lifted wagon will look better? i kinda like the rear lights on my 2018 wagon better than the sedan version...
