2019 E53 AMG Cabriolet
E53 AMG

Does anyone know of a local place in the NY/NJ/CT metro area where I can take my 2019 E53 AMG to have the speed limiter removed? 130mph is way too slow for the track with such a powerful engine. Car comes with tires that are rated for 180mph+ and massive brakes and rotors. In Europe with the AMG performance package the car tops out at 155 but wasn't offered as an option in the US. Any help would be much appreciated. Car is a lease so not looking to sink a ton of money into it.

I don't believe it can be done yet as there are no tunes available for this model. You might want to call Renntech or another tuner to see if they have anything in the works or a way to simply just remove the speed limiter without a tune.

The speed restriction is s stupid choice by MBUSA. In Germany, the car is limited to 155mph without the AMG Driver Package and roughly 170mph with it (270 km/H). The car will likely max out with its gearing at a somewhere below 180.

Exactly, have not found anything specific to my model... Was wondering if anyone out there had any work arounds. Hoping I'll find something so I don't get eaten alive this year :-P

I totally agree with you... Asinine. The C43 has a faster top speed than mine without a tune and its a lower end car. BS. The car can definitely hit 180. It wants to keep going when I hit 130 but computer shuts it down. I'd expect a non AMG to be topped out at 130. Didn't buy this car as a grocery getter :-P

All E class cars sold in the USA are speed limited to 130 mph. Some nonsense to make the regulators here happy. If you want to raise or deactivate the speed limiter, you need to contact one of the tuners. Yeah I know it is stupid, but that's the deal.

Woohoo. I was wondering what it was. Thanks for answering my question before I asked. Took my e63 past 135 the other day easy.

Not true. C43 is limited to 130, also. It has to do with the speed ratings on the OEM tires.

The 63 series cars are the real AMG cars. I thought this discussion was referring to the 43 and 53 series models, which are the marketing re-branded AMG's. Those are speed limited to 130 mph.

That is debatable and is discussed tons of other places. No need to start a new post that will only go south.

I was wondering what it was also. I was doing 183 before I had to slow down, on Saturday.

Not the case. Speed ratings are higher on factory tires. It’s a dumb political move by MBUSA.

Is the case. The OEM tire size 18s are H rated on the C43. I was answering the reference to C43's. I can't speak E53s.

Makes sense but I was referring to the E53 from this thread. I have seen them with Pirelli P-Zeros and the sedan is listed with PS4s tires.

So the 2020 E53 with the R01 tire package (which is the same as MY'19) will have the speed limited removed. Saw that in the E213 sedan forums on a 2020 E class discussion thread.
Need to talk to my dealer
