E63s ride

run 42 front 39 rear which is recommended normal tire pressure. I dont know what tires you have but I tested one with Bridgestone all seasons and that helped too. I am running the stock Michelin PS4 summers but will be switching to Bridgestones for winter. Oh the PS4 are very good tire too I dont know what you are running but tire tends to have a lot more effect than just going to a smaller wheel. 20 t0 19 is only an inch and not a much of a difference. Car is on hash side but bearable.

I bought some 19" forgestars from a fellow member for that very reason. (And looks.) I'll let you know once I get some Ps4's mounted on them. I plan to go conti Soto's for the winter.
Meanwhile I've learned to like the ride of the 20" AMG wheels with Ps4s. Not as harsh as a 430 Ferrari I had a while ago. The 430 would seek out potholes and blow out a tire the day before all planned events. Sigh....... What I still don't like about the stock setup is the loud tire slap I always seem to get on our crappy Indiana roads. And I'm running lower tire pressures. And I have the acoustical glass.

2019 E63 S
Thank you for the question I have a W212 E63 S and was thinking about getting a W213. But my significant other despises the right quality of the W212. it is like riding on rocks even with comfort pressure
Is the W 213 E63 S any better or smoother in that regard or still brutal? I live in the New York area and last winter I lost five tires to potholes in about a six week period on the car. I'm not doing that again this winter. I'm considering getting the Cayenne turbo instead but not sure.

I have a range rover for this same reason. I used to live up in NY area and still have a home up there. If you live in the city W213 will be bad option. I dont drive mine if I have to go into city I use the SUV. Its a pitty the roads are so bad.

What is the difference in side wall between 19’s and 20s . Was thinking 19s for winter. Though right now just driving other cars in the winter don’t want to subject my baby to salt etc.

Winter vehicle
I just bought a 2018 Toyota Highlander AWD for that reason. (And to tow a small boat I need to move around.)
After driving it for a couple days, one thing is for certain, I sure will appreciate the E63s after this!

I drive a Rav 4 for light towing and other items. In the City it is better than my E63 but on the highway the E63 is night and day better.

These ride comments and threads make me start seeing value in the AMG GT 63s.......

Ride pretty much same between these two. Am not sure what you mean by your comment. I looked at the GT and failed to see what the huge price difference was accounting for but the GT look and about 30hp extra, and Rear wheel steering. Rear wheel steering is kind of making up for the fact that thing is huge and long and would be sloopy without it. The Looks and extra HP in an already monstrously powerful car fail to justify the price jump.

Am sure they have a good reason for this not being the case, but I cant see why they cant give us both. Keep every other mode the same but soften comfort to match the E450

If anything, the huge price delta makes the latter a huge bargain at almost 40% discount to the other.

I have personally not driven the AMG GTs.....was really hoping the reviews saying the ride difference in comfort mode were true

To follow up on this thread I know its about ride quality and I rode the GT and cant feel that difference. I also fail to understand how a GT63 down on both power and torque vs the E63S; And might I add heavier than the E63S can have the same exact acceleration numbers. Im not buying it! Not because I got the E63S but because it just makes no sense at all. Plus that thing is yuuuge! And the prices are pretty ridiculous. Even the E63S is not exactly a bargain. The GT63 is just absurd. I am sure they will not sell many of those things. You drive an E63S then hop into the GT63 and you just honestly fail to see why the huge premium on it. Also not many GT63S around. The GT63 already is in ridiculous territory and you can bet there will be some nasty depreciation to boot. If you thought E63S was bad, brace to be shocked by the GT63. Thats just my opinion.

For sure. The E63 is a bargain for sure, as is the BMW (being even cheaper). I also spent some with the GT63; beautiful car in it's own way, fun to drive, blah, blah...value just isn't there for me. I have seen several around now, so some folks are seeing the value in there somewhere.

Seen a few GT63 cars in showrooms but looks like no dealer is stocking the GT63S, except perhaps dealers at beverly hills type places probably are. I think theyll have a really hard time moving the GT63S. Just a hunch. Even the GT63 is tear jerker price territory! Local dealer sold a few E63S while the GT63 which is gorgeous by the way is a showroom floor flower that customers are not even asking to test drive.

They blew it with that car.
In Chicago, after satisfying the typical hard core group of folks who always must have the newest first, the second wave is sitting in inventories.
My dealer has a gorgeous Blue Matte GT63S, loaded at $200k MSRP, 600 miles (guy returned the car as he could not live with the stiff suspension and traded for S63), asking $175k but told me on the side he would take anything over $160k.
That's a humongous drop for a brand new model.
