When you are ready to go just let off of the brake and the car will catapult off the line--the car should accelerate to any where between 3--3.3 secs with ease. Hope this helps. Also, forgot to mention that the car needs to have completed the break-in period which is around 1,000 miles give or take before it will allow you to use LC. Good luck.
Thanks for taking the time and answering the question instead derailing this thread into infinite rant about should one even use the LC!

I also recommend turning off TC completely for the best times

@cityvibe

You are quite welcome--as to the rest of this thread for your own piece of mind and comfort an AMG engineer from Germany has insured me that they would not have included a LC function if the car wasn't wholly capable of withstanding it. The computer ECU allows for the MCT to engage in a manner that prevents the kind of abuse non-launch controlled or manual transmissions inflict on the torque converter/clutch plates, respectively, and their differentials and drivetrains when trying to blast them off the line from a stop. That said, launch control is tougher on all of those components then driving a car smoothly off the line from a stop and I wouldn't want to buy a used E63s from someone that had used LC thousands of times--but I bought this car not only to transport 3 other passengers in relative comfort when going out but also, to every now and then, get the thrill of a good 0-60 or 1/4 mile blast and/or to shame young kids in their Mustangs or Camaros that challenge me at a stop light. If I want a sedate ride I have an SUV --if I want a pure sports car with its 2-seat/passenger limitation I have a 996 Porsche Turbo. As a matter of fact the E63s pretty much does it all obviating the need for both. Actually my E63s will pretty much eat my 996 Porsche Turbo in all areas with the exception of real tight and twisty country roads and the track. Have fun and enjoy your new car to the "fullest" which includes using LC--that's why you bought it and not some other sedan like an E450.

@apsuard and @Mandarin you guys have modded cars with flashed ECUs etc. With the car stock did you find turning of TC helped your 0-60 as well? Also, when you suggest turning off TC are you talking about holding the ESP button for 3 secs? Also what kind of difference and times have you seen? I thought the TC helped the car to get the best traction possible and to to avoid wheel spin etc for the best time--is this not the case?

Yes, holding the button to fully disable TC.

It helped even when stock. I saw an improvement in the 0.1-0.2 second range from turning off verse race mode.

@apsuard thanks for the response--
I have run 3.1 and 3.15 w/Dragy and a 3.04 using Track Pace in Race Mode ("RM") and TC on using LC. I think it would be quite difficult to get a much better time stock. If you put the car in RM and you turn TC/ESP off you are still in RM--did you mean versus RM with TC/ESP off? Does LC still work when you turn ESP off?

That is impressive for stock!

I just meant using launch control with traction completely off improved my times.

That is what I thought you meant— thanks. I also have a lot of times btwn 3.2 and 3.3 and after a bad tank of gas I had some pretty awful times. Also, high heat and humidity here in the northeast seems to make for a loss of at least 1/10 of a sec.

With TC "on" it's over than 3.4s, with "off" - less than 3s.

This is apart from the OP's original question but what about when you're launching from a roll....like 40mph? TC on or off and leave it Auto or manual shift?

I have set my Individual drive mode so that it is ready for LC. That way when I pull up to a light I just flip the drive mode switch up once and I'm ready for launch control.

I am not sure what the issue is. You simply pull the drive mode back to put car in Sport + or RM and apply brake and accelerator and let brake up-voila, instant launch mode. Literally couldn't be easier- never not able to engage at a stop light under any circumstance.

2018 S560 and 2019 E450 Wagon.
Well, sounds like you enjoy the car Ronin, thats all that counts. This forum is becoming very amusing though. As I remember though Launch control is huge for a roughly 1 second improvement in the 0 to 60 time. With it around 3 seconds, without it around 4 seconds. Thats one thing I do miss on my E450 although with the tuning improvements I have made to it the car is pretty darn fast, at least fast enough for me and I'm perfectly happy with it's handling. I do like averaging 30 mpg on the highway too and getting nearly 600 miles on a tank of gas when going between RI and Florida, no regrets for the type of driving I do it was the right decision to get the E450 Wagon and also the E450 Cabrio as my weekend toy.

The e63s wagon is about the best all purpose car I've owned, fact is I haven't driven my GTS for over a month since it fits in a narrow performance slot vs the whole enchilada of the wagon.
