turn off automatic brake activation . . .
I've searched the topic and all I could come up with was an individual talking about it on an older, '11 or so model E class and it wouldn't apply to newer models as they don't have ignition keys . . . I was under the impression that one can program the emergency brake to NOT be applied when putting the car into park and exiting on newer models (mine is a '19). Am I correct? If so, how do I go about reprogramming that feature so the emergency brake does not automatically engage when parking the car?

1.car applies hand brake after some time you have turned engine off -No, you can't reprogram
2.hand brake turns on when your car is on and you open door while on "drive" or "reverse"-No, you can't reprogram
3.hand brake activates when you park car next to wall/big curb -Yes, you can switch it off in car setting menu

Emergency brake can be turned off
Just before you turn off the car pull the handbrake switch and hold it while you turn off the car. This will not allow the handbrake to be set. This is the only way

put the car in park with the engine running (they ask you to keep it running to keep circulating fluids), open the door (which automatically engages the parking brake), and then disengage it with the button/lever which is located at the bottom right hand side of the steering wheel (by your knee if you're in the seat).
i just did the Performance program at Laguna Seca yesterday, and it was i n c r e d i b l e. i've decided to do all of the programs all the way to SCCA license. have fun!

I was supposed to do Laguna Seca around this time but due to my wife's hand surgery had to put my name on a waiting list and it was called so I'm going to COTA in December

I'm a active member here, but a general Google search found this thread for me. I'm at a track day in my '17 C43 at Mid-Ohio with AutoInterests.com and needed to figure this out. I was trying to use the maintenance process of disabling the parking brake for a pad change, and it kept telling me 'conditions not met' or similar. Simply using the damn button, can't believe I didn't figure that out.

Frustrated…
I have a 2016 GLE400 that frustratingly performs just as the whole internet says - brake turns on automatically and only turns off when you press the gas. BUT, I just rented a 2017 GLE350 and it actually works the way I’d like mine to, where it turned the ebrake off the moment you put the car into drive. Fastening seat belts and adjusting mirrors made no difference it turned the ebrake of the moment you went into drive and then let the car naturally roll till you accelerated.
How is the stock 2017 able to do it but my 2016 isn’t…
I need someone who knows how to “program the ebrake activation” to please respond. How do I tell my MB to activate ebrake on Park but disengage on D… WITHOUT having to press the gas?
I’ve tried so many 5 second press or pull when turning off the or on the car it’s not funny. There has to be a secret code that no one is talking about.
Please reply if you KNOW how.
