AMG E 63 S Wagons--lemons abound?

I'm looking a used AMG E 63 S Wagons and there aren't that many listed (not that many made I understand), but when 2 out of 12-15 2018 and 2019 listed are lemon law buy backs, this is concerning. One was disclosed on the ad and the other was disclosed upon gathering information from the dealer. This would seem to be a disproportionately high amount of lemons compared to other vehicles. What's the general consensus here? I'm now scared of any 2018 and even 2019 with extremely low mileage as I know myself that sometimes people just trade a lemon rather than fight corporate for a buy back. I'm very interested in this car but getting quite hesitant due to the cost and then having experience a recent new car lemon myself (Ford brand).

Because so few wagons make it over here, pretty much any amount of lemon is going to make it feel like a mine field out there.

None of us have the real lemon data...but what we can tell you, via the other guys on here looking for used 2018/2019 wagons, the sellers of the clean ones move very little on price and they go fairly quickly.

You may want to have a better understanding of what happened to the 2018 E63 and S63 cars. I do not know about the cars you are looking at but the issue with the 2018 model years have to do with the Check Engine Light (CEL) coming on. IMHO MB/AMG was having a difficult time fixing the issue but while they were trying to figure it out, they had tons of people complaining and they did lots of manufacture buybacks on the E63 and S63 cars. Subsequently, before the 2019 model year was sent out into the world, they fixed the issue--I believe it was mostly a software issue but I also seem to remember something of a manifold issue. In any event, certain cylinders were miss firing causing the CEL to come on. My '19 S63 now has 14,000 miles and has delivered excellent performance so I believe they fixed the issue. Just my 2 cents for what it is worth.

What were the issues?

Without knowing that - stay away.

is the 2020 wagon with 67 miles or something a manufacturer buyback? saw that one pop up and was like "what the ????"

I had considered the white car in Florida - saw that it was a forum member's old car - but ultimately - they were unwilling to meet my price. I think they have the CEL issue sorted now - and some cars could be good deals.

And the new service bulletin they sent out yesterday says the cars were incorrectly reporting the presence of a misfire, fuel tank ventilation position, or battery supply voltage and sometimes putting the car in limp mode without cause...so they may never have ever been a "misfire issue" just the computer incorrectly reporting one...

I'm just thinking of all the owners here (who only represent a small pool of the total number of E63&S63 owners with problems) that had service departments swapping expensive engine components to no avail for months over something that might have just been a glitch in error reporting. Ooooph...

Just today I called the dealer listed on the car fax on one I was interested in because I saw that every service 'Engine/powertrain computer/module checked' was listed. The Service Advisor was very familiar with this car and said it has a check engine light issue but it resolved after the owner took off a tune that he had installed shortly after buying it new. "Limp mode' was mentioned and now reading what you guys are saying I'm sure this car is affected by whatever was wrong software wise. I decided I wasn't interested in this one.

I have driven a combined 18,000 miles on two 2019 E63 S Wagons and haven’t had a single issue.
