Car is in! Designo Selenite Grey Magno question
My e63 just came in Monday. I love this car. Traded it in with my CTS-V. Anyways, this is my first car with Matte paint. Is it worth it to get an XPel clear wrap on it? I want to make sure the paint is protected. Has anyone with this paint had a clear wrap done? Is it worth it?

Nice, congrats! I have the same color on mine and I am going to get the Xpel done for sure. This color is amazing and I would like to keep it that way.
From what I was told, it lasts around 10 years and it is warrantied. The other bonus that I heard was that it self corrects itself if it gets scratched or anything. I think it is a worthwhile investment, so I am going to be pulling the trigger on that.
Any pics of the beast? Congrats again!

Awesome. I put in a call to them today but waiting on a call back. Loving everything about this car and I am trying to get these first 1000 miles out of the way so i can really get after it.

Congrats Truckin! Would really like to see some daytime photos too. I'm still waiting on mine (some time in July) so it's always exciting to see someone get their new ride.

I only did full front for rock chips. This is my first matte paint car and after 3 weeks it’s easier to maintain than gloss imo. The car doesn’t look as dirty quick. If you know how to wash a car properly and dry matte is very easy to maintain. Couldn’t be happier.

I did the full xpel steath wrap and it is great. My car was loaded with pollen and in 4 minutes with a quick detail spray, some glass cleaner and 4 micro fiber towels and the car is clean. Search under my posts to see pics but basically you can’t tell the wrap is there.

My reasoning for the wrap is to eliminate any potental for scratches/future rock chips.

That looks awesome. I cant really tell at all. Maybe it makes it a tad bit lighter? But all in all i think it looks good. I will probably be proceeding with my scheduled wrap. I really just want to keep my baby protected lol

Just took delivery of my E63 S in grey matte one week ago and after a few days of highway driving and worrying nonstop that a stone chip would ruin my beautiful car I took it in to get a wrap followed by a 4 layer ceramic coating as well as some blackout and tinting. Went by the shop today and took a few pics.

this is wrong information. sorry. xpel stealth is a satin finish, meaning matte. you don't "need" to use this option on a matte paint vehicle, unless you intend to double up on the effect. for a factory matte paint job, the regular xpel wrap is perfectly sufficient, particularly if you want to maintain the characteristics of the original paint.

I got the full wrap done and it looks great. I went with Xpel Stealth. It is hard to tell that is even on there. I will post pics soon. Unfortunately, i got a small rock chip on the front bumper before taking it in but it is barely noticeable.

Finally got mine done and had time to put pics up lol (super delayed I know). Here is the outcome:
Car came out flawless and I couldn't be happier! Next, I will be doing some research on tunes
Anyone here get tuned and have input? I don't want to go crazy and change any parts, but I would like some pep in the step here lol
Thanks in advance!

Sweet rides. For reference, I used 3M Matte wrap. Was cheaper than Xpel and also had a 10 year warranty. So far at 2 months in it has been awesome. Survived many rock chips and road trips already. I would have also gotten Suntek. Both these films are thinner than Xpel, I believe, but I think they’re all great. And necessary!

go fast grocery getter wagon

or you can ask your shop's recommendation on what is more suitable if your car comes with matte / frozen paint finish

I am getting a Matte Designo Selenite on my new SL- it will get completely Xpel-led and DOUBLED on the hood since the car is so low and in Texas it is gravel trucks even on weekends.
However, I also read that if you get a bigger scratch that you have to have the entire panel painted- thats true even with regular paints- they have to "blend in" and that usually covers the entire panel and even go past the panel depending on how
big is the scar?
Now the color match is what is also a concern. But I am going to check with my local Mercedes Benz body shop certified place and see if this is true,
