^^^I am half serious. Also, not looking forward to losing like $50k in a year. Shouldn't be buying this one new but will more than likely turn a blind eye if they give me 5% off.

That’s as succinct an argument for leasing as one is likely to find. Also, if you can’t secure significantly more than 5% off MSRP, then you’re not really trying. 😎

I really like the darker colours like yours, but I will have trouble keeping it clean so figured selenite grey was the way to go. I guess it looks clean now, but isn´t :-) (It´s been raining and snowing alot lately which helps). CCBs was a highly recommended option from this forum

Black w/ Silver Stitching (561) / Silver Belts / 736 - Natural Grain Black Ash Wood. The combo exterior and interior maybe is a little bit dull. But the car as whole certainly isn’t

Looking forward you posting pictures of your cars later on

Hope I don't regret the carbon fiber interior trim. There's lots of it and it's very shiny. Will not age well. Almost went natural wood route but am a sucker for carbon fiber.

Not sure what you mean by "will not age well". The wood trim looks great, but fades over time or changes color unevenly. I went through 3 sets of burl walnut trim on my e550 a few years ago due to constant fading from the UV in the sunlight. I have carbon fiber in my current E63S and it looks as good now as the day I bought the car 3 years ago.

Trim

I think you will be fine with the carbon fiber. I have piano black trim on my M5 - now that is a scratch magnet.

I was going to with metal weave but didn’t like the way the console was different.

I hope I like the natural wood. 😬

Haven't seen anything. I hope that you're not ordering the Dinamica steering wheel. That is a nightmare to keep looking clean.

I prefer glossy wood trim. Loved the burl walnut on my CLS550, but was disappointed to find that it wasn't available on the E63S. I went with the brown ash wood - a bit darker than I prefer, but I'm sure it'll be nice.

The odd thing is that you can get this in Canada and Germany as standard trim. The glossy brown ash would be my choice if I didn't go for the the carbon fiber.

I have it on my current wagon. Sonox makes a cleaner that is easy to use. Makes it look like new.

When someone gets their car can you confirm the steering wheel center is leather? I just picked up a 2021 GLE580 with exclusive leather package and the center is Nappa and it looks great. I thought I saw a few picture with a plastic pleather looking center.

Looking at the US configurator, I would say that the center hub is not leather. I do not see any stitching on the part.

Unfortunately, it’s a plastic part on the new E63S. That was one of the major points that made me think carefully before ordering the car (along with the absence of the IWC dash clock, the unavailability of the macchiato headliner, the unavailability of burl walnut trim, and the asymmetric placement of the front camera). Still, I strongly suspect that those items will not, even collectively, detract much from my enjoyment of the car.

That's what I thought as well. I hope they come in with leather. It's a nice touch being as you look at it everyday.

Every E class worldwide, no matter the trim or level, do not come with a leather stitched airbag. Definitely unfortunate. You will need to source the W223 S class airbag once they become available. So far no other model has been released with this new airbag (W213 facelift and W223 are only chassis so far).

I'd love to see an interior photo of your dash and center console area when it arrives. I just switched my build to glossy brown ash from the matte black ash. Initially chose the matte because I think it will wear well (won't show scratches) but then I thought the glossy dark brown ash would add a bit of warmth to the otherwise black/silver interior. I really like the "Flowing Lines" trim, but that solid piano black center console will look terrible *when* it gets scratched, and I have 3 young children... At least the wood grain on the glossy brown ash hides small scratches better...

My current 2020 wagon has the carbon fibRE trim, which I really like too, but $2850 isn't chump change (especially for trim!) and I'd rather allocate those option dollars elsewhere. Not worth it to me.

Will do on the interior photo. I’m not concerned about scratches (no kids, thankfully!!), but have always appreciated the warm look of wood. I don’t get the current obsession with matte paint and dull/unfinished woods - a glossy finish is elegant, attractive, and traditional. I don’t mind carbon fiber (though it is overused these days), but think that wood is more appropriate for a luxury sedan which, despite its obvious performance pedigree and features, the E63S definitely is. I fulfill my carbon trim urges with Ferrari. 😎

Your salesman will need to periodically check his Netstar system for status updates and keep you apprised. Most likely, you’ll need to remind him to do this on a regular basis; I’ve yet to meet one who’ll be proactive about it, at least to my standards.

For me, the matte wood is a huge plus. My previous 3 AMG's all had gloss carbon trim and the way they design these dashboards more recently is that the trim and console curves so you are left with massive glare to your face during all hours of the day. Add in clear coat scratches, finger prints, and being a dust magnet and its easy to see why most people are switching over including myself. If they released a matte carbon fiber I would consider it. My 2018 E300 has the natural grain black ash wood and its amazing and its 3 years old and not 1 sign of wear, fading, or anything of the like and I live in S Florida. My 21 E53 will be here late February and I went with the nut brown / black ash wood which should compliment together nicely.

Fair enough. I have matte wood in my current car (Alfa Stelvio) and don't care for it all. It's bland and visually uninteresting. I can't say that I've ever scratched the glossy trim on any previous vehicle, been affected by trim-related glare, or noticed any wear/fading (despite being in equally sunny central FL), though dust is certainly an issue. Different strokes.
