Weight Savings with ccb's and Vertini Wheels
Hello all,
Two questions:
1. How much weight is saved (unsprung) with the carbon ceramic brakes and the forged AMG wheels.
2. Does anyone have experience with Vertini wheels? Are they lighter than the AMG forged wheels and can they stand up to hard cornering, etc.? I was on their website and they have some nice designs. I've been thinking of going with something maybe gun metal grey as there is too much black on my wagon.
Thanks in advance for any and all info regarding my two question.

just on ccb brakes alone, per Brembo marketing info., ccb can have about 5-6kg in weight savings over steel (per corner). In all, you are probably looking at about 30% range in weight savings in all.
I would imagine the AMG forged wheels would each weight in around 26 lbs.

The practical part comes in when you're asked to spend thousands to reduce .25 kg of unsprung weight. The theoretical benefit is probably not going to make a difference in the real world. On the other hand, if brakes and wheels can shave, say 4 or 5 kg per corner, you will feel the difference, even in a 4,500 pound car.

That may be true in practical terms, but lowering unsprung weight has a big effect on handling. The suspension can do a much better job of keeping the wheels where they should be if there's less inertia to fight. And small differences can have a big result. Of course, the mass of the car makes a difference too, but it affects different handling parameters than unsprung weight.

I have a 2018 AMG e63s with CCB's, lighter wheels and tires and there is ZERO difference in feel between a stock e63s wagon.
Maybe I'm just insensitive..
