For a new wagon build I'm torn between the sport bucket seats and regular comfort seats. I don't care about looks when it comes to these seats. Are the buckets too uncomfortable or impractical relatively speaking?
I'm assuming the 2020s are done at this point, so you must be looking at the facelift 2021. It appears you are in the USA, right? The AMG Performance Seats are no longer offered in North America for the 2021s. MBUSA still shows the 2020 wagon, but the sedan configurator is updated for 2021. No AMG Performance Seats, also confirmed in the DOG. I'm assuming it'll be the same for the wagon. So your question is moot. The AMG Performance Seats did not sell well in the USA for the E63. Cars that had them sat on the lots for a very long time. Americans are too out of shape for them. I do love them, though. I have the ventilated and heated variant in my '19 C63S Coupe. Amazing seats and very comfortable to me. I'm 5'11" and 170 lbs. Bigger people end up sitting on them instead of in them, which is partially why a lot of people think they are uncomfortable and they do take some flexibility to get in and out due to the high side bolsters, but once in they hold you in place. Very comfortable with the side bolster fully deflated for daily driving and while attacking a canyon road I can inflate the side bolsters to keep me in place. I've driven up to 12 hours in a single day in them. No comfort issues other than what's expected after sitting for 12 hours in any seat.
I didn't realize performance seats weren't being offered for facelift builds. The performance seats were a must have for me. If you're focused solely on comfort then the standard seats will suit your needs.
Thank you both very much for your thoughts. Well, one less decision to be made. I was leaning toward the sofas anyway. I shall save the bucket seats for the Porsches. Now need to see what this grey leather option looks like. Also, I was a fan of Brilliant Silver of past but never Iridium as it was too dull for my taste. Also, need to check out new silver called cirrus and new grey. Otherwise it'll be back to the standby non-metallic black. Thanks again.
I'm looking hard at a new E63 and I was torn between the buckets and the sport seats. I LOVE the look of the sport seats but I take plenty of long drives. That said I also really don't care for the refresh and prefer the raw aggression of the PFL.

This is pretty funny and sadly accurate I suppose. I shopped all 2020 for an '18 E63 wagon and knew I had to have the AMG seats - they're simply beautiful. I find them very comfortable, despite being quite solid, you just have to dial in all the settings. I drove cross-country home after I got mine, and spend 16 hours in the seat 1 of the days, it didn't bother me
bummer that for how expensive these cars are new, and how many expensive options you can get (with all the carbon fiber stuff for example), that nicer seats are omitted now
love my sport seats, had the massage option in my last amg and used it once or twice, felt like a kiss on the cheek rather than a good ole ********....

So that would make the sport seats an S&M trip? Lol
As commented above, very build dependent. I am 6'1" and 180-185 lbs and they fit me well but my wife chose the regular seats as our E63s wagon is her daily driver. She is 5' and 110 lbs but the sport seats impaired her visibility to the rear corners which also is the reason why the RS6 and RS7 fell off our list for her. If you are prone to ischial spine (butt bone) bursitis or sciatica, the sport seat may exacerbate those as well from comments I have seen on similar seats in other vehicles and on other forums.
I however must admit I personally love the look of the sport seats but then again not my car

I like them; they fit me well, however, they aren't without issue- my father in law is on the older side, he has some real difficulty getting in and out. I have this nice car and my inlaws dont like driving in it as a result.

That sounds like a win win to me nice seats no in laws!!

Soooo, I seem to be both fat and dull
Owner of an Iridium Silver E53 with standard buckets.
FYI, they seem to hold my fat *** in place OK.
