Dream come true: Lunar Blue '18 E63s wagon, fully optioned
It was my 2020 goal to get an '18 E63s wagon.
If I was ever going to buy a car that cost more than $50k, this is the only one I wanted.
I'd been looking all year, tracking prices, making spreadsheets, and even tried to buy one in Nov '20 but it fell through (hard to compete with a straight cash buyer...)
I really wanted a color other than silver, AMG seats, and CCB - but figured I'd have to settle for less since especially those with CCB were either selling *immediately* or were priced too high for me.
Literally Christmas day 2020 I spot a listing go up at a Mercedes Dealer in NYC (I'm on the west coast).
Zero pictures, zero details, but it had the VIN - and when I ran it for the build sheet, I about lost it.
I called them and started the process immediately, and somehow managed to actually buy the car.
I flew out Dec 30, finalized paperwork, and just got home from the road trip yesterday (yeah, I could have shipped it and save 3k miles on the car, but wheres the fun in that?)
Since it was a trade-in (original owner got a new G wagon), the Mercedes dealer could CPO it for extra warranty too, which is really nice and a huge weight off my mind. Goal: accomplished - and on literally the last day of the year!
I can't express how much of a dream come true this is.
The car is amazing, beautiful, so fast and fun, and an absolute joy
My 2021 goal is now to be able to continue to afford the car (hah!)
Lucky dog! This is literally the perfect spec wagon. I watch almost every day and never saw it, congrats on your persistence. Curious how you've found the seats? Would also appreciate a PM with what you paid for reference if you don't mind. Enjoy the ride!
Congrats. These vehicles sell quick so when one comes available you need to be ready to commit. I bought mine unseen, other than the ad. Called, talked to the salesman, and made a deposit during that same initial phone call.
In my year of searching, the cheapest one I saw was a Lemon Law Buyback for $70k (it did have AMG seats tho).
All the rest have been at least $80k if not $90k.
I've only seen 3 I think with CCB, all were over $90k

Yup thats basically what I had to do as well. I knew if I didn't put a deposit down, it would slip away immediately.

It is the perfect spec. Every time I get in the car I look around and realize how lucky I am
The seats are amazing, truly a piece of art and beauty. They adjust in so many different ways that its not hard to find a way to make them comfortable.
I drove 16 hours straight one of the days on the trip home, and they didn't bother me.
They are quite firm though, so its definitely a matter of adjusting perfectly until its right for you

Congrats! And good to hear you drove it back. That is exactly how I was going to spec my order but I chickened out at the last minute. When I went to the matte grey and black interior my factory delivery salesperson screwed up the revised order, which is another story.
Congrats! I picked up mine yesterday and it has been continuous fun since. Kind of hard to get any work done between going going for rides and playing around trying to figure out all of the various controls, configurations, etc.

Lunar blue and nut brown is the best color combination IMHO. Congrats — I’m jealous. Had to compromise on my 2018 (diamond white, black, carbon fiber) because they are so hard to find. But I still love it.

I had saved searches set up on autotrader and cars.com - and would check daily.
this one popped up as a blank listing with no pictures, just the VIN, i used mbdecoder.com to look up the spec/build - my jaw dropped when i saw the config, and I called the dealer immediately.
I tracked every E63 wagon I saw for sale from about June 2020-Dec 2020 in a spreadsheet

Thanks! it really is so amazing. the original owner was a italian shoe company CEO in New York City, so I guess he had some taste for design, and too much money to blow
i knew i didn't want to compromise if i was gonna spend this amount of money. and boy am i glad i held out all year and was able to land this one. its truly special
