To street race that is. It seems that about one out of every 7 outings in my wagon someone has to "show me up" at a street light. Even trucks do this on occasion but I don't bite. All it takes is someone behind to call in a street race and very bad thinks will happen. Sometimes I feel that because of my reluctance to engage that others may think that the car is just slow and then this reputation becomes the norm. Just today a Cayman GT4 did this and boy, did I want to show him what's up but, I didn't (lots of cars behind in both lanes). Anyway, I'm sure I'm not alone in this or am I?
Pfffft dude ANYBODY CAN GET IT as long as we have enough SAFE runway in front of me and I don't see any cops. Somebody's gonna call in a street race? During a pandemic? With horrible police response times on a good day? To each their own I guess.

So would you go? My major concern is for others on the road but yea, on a couple of occasions I have broken my rule and smoked em (RS7 latest victim). But in most other instances it's a no go.
I couldn't care less about the car's reputation among people who can only afford these when the depreciation is at 6-8-10 years. I occasionally give in and smoke the few who I deem are worthy cars to even square up to.
I'm not wasting my gas on cars with fart cans and "hellaflush" stickers LOL.
Who gives a crap what anybody else thinks about anything, let alone some idiot stranger on the street? Why risk your health, safety, and driving record to “prove” anything to some moron? I exorcise all of my go-fast, competitive urges on the track. Street racing is criminally stupid and shouldn’t be tolerated. If I haven’t been goaded over the years in Ferraris and an Ultima, it’s certainly not going to happen in an MB.
Going however slightly under the proverbial radar is one reason why I ordered the car debadged. Also, it looks better without all the extra lettering. 😎

I've ordered my car, but the build isn't finalized- have been going back and forth about de-badging. It would seem that those in the know, know what it is, badges or not, and those that don't, don't. Am concerned that the fenders especially will look like something is missing, the liftgate not so much.

Those who know, know. Those who don’t know, don’t need to know.
The fenders look great without the badges. If anything, they look crowded with the standard badge crammed under the trim piece. The liftgate looks awesome with just the star in the middle. I wouldn’t have it any other way. Look at the photos I posted a couple of weeks ago from my delivery.
Someone else posted this image with debadged fenders. Personally, I would keep front badges and delete rear badges. If you’re on the fence, keep all badges and a detailed can easily remove them later because they are attached with adhesive. My detailer said he’d charge $80 to do this.

That’s my car. As I said above, there are good reasons to debadge both sides and rear, not least that the side badges are jammed in under the trim and it just looks hideous.

80 bux?? WTF?! LOL!
Your detail guy is a con artist if he charged a penny to debadge LOL!! Just my feeling
FWIW I agree with the 'idiot' sentiment when it comes to racing from a stoplight LOL......what a stupid idea, SOO many detrimental outcomes for what equates to measurement

I agreed about street racing ,it's the stupidest thing to do. In Michigan the police are looking for anything that looks like a street race they'll give you a ticket and they will confiscate your car and you won't get it back . The Dodge & Mustang & Camero boys are the common victims of police and the courts back them up. Your insurance will go through the roof and its already high depending on your driving record and age . All my racing will be at the dragway period . Its ok to open her up on the hwy ever now and then , but be careful theirs already to many people driving to fast. One more point you can kill yourself or others. I let them race themselves ,they'll get the ticket
I am getting the badges and will decide after the car comes in. I am leasing so if I do remove them I will have them in hand just in case the dealer or new owner wants them.
Back to the thread. I had a 2019 911 TurboS and was challenged by a guy on a sport bike. I took him up on the challenge, smoked him, and when I got off the ramp I was at 140. Thought to myself what a idiot I was and that's the end of my street racing. Someday I will get a dedicated track car to enjoy my need for speed.
Nobody has tried to race me yet. I am not saying I would want to go to the "party" but it feels nice to be invited....
Spend a little time on the street driving cars which draw that sort of attention and you'll be amazed at how quickly it gets old. I can already tell that, fortunately, this won't be a frequent occurrence with the E63S.
One of the really bad scenarios is that you were observed on a dash or street cam within close proximity to car X who subsequently crashes with severe injuries to occupants or a fatality.
The police then connect you to that vehicle and someone says you and car x were street racing. Verbal statements and video evidence connects you.
Driver of other car is incapacitated or dead and can't say you weren't involved.
It's a mess you don't want to be involved with.
I once had a driver crash behind me. I stopped to see if I could render aid and called 911 and all that, as did others. After fire and rescue arrived we gave statements to the CHP and were on our way. A month later I get a letter from a legal firm who has billboards along the highway in the area and who claims that their preliminary investigation shows I'm at fault. WTF?
I contact the CHP to get a copy of the accident report and they won't give it to me initially because I'm not an involved party. I tell them the liar, oops I mean lawyer, says otherwise. They as who the law firm is and when I tell them there an an audible sigh on the other end and they say I'm sorry for you, as they understand the **** storm I'm about to be sucked in to, and send me a copy of the report. Clearly shows I'm not involved but does list me as a witness. Driver was cited for excessive speed and unsafe turning movement.
This starts a two year saga where I was sued for $1,000,000, went through a week long trial and was found unanimously not guilt, thankfully.
I had two witnesses in the vehicle with me and the dunderhead lawyer didn't know there were other witnesses from other vehicles who also gave statements but which weren't included in the accident report proper, but which were in the CHP file.
If I had a dashcam with rear facing camera it would have quickly eliminated me as involved and show that the cretins in the accident vehicle and their personal injury lawyer were just out for cash thinking it was my word against theirs and that my insurance company (Allstate) would quickly settle. Allstate, after talking with me understood how strong our case was and went to the mat for me. They brought in an expert witness who literally wrote the book (a couple of them actually) on highway accident reconstruction - amazing guy - and provided me with a great lawyer and literally spared no expense. Even then, it was still very emotionally draining and with a jury you just never know.
All the above said, I'm not immune to temptation when someone wants to get frisky in the other lane, but more often than not I manage to avoid anything extra legal.
My vette is loud...maybe it is the area where I live. Nobody has tried to race me in years. Maybe they just know they will lose if I decide to put my foot down

THAT is a hell of a story! Glad you were cleared of any wrong doing: I would have been so pissed off and would have tried to counter sue, if there is such a thing!

Unbelievable. No wonder no one helps anymore.
We are in the same locale; thanks for sharing.
My lawyer advised that I could countersue and likely win, but these people were losers with no assets, and other than a feeling of righteous justice all I would have to show for it would be the money spent on the case and a worthless paper showing I won.
So, I just moved on with my life knowing theirs was a **** show and always would be.
When I see other cars racing each other on the street, I thought how irresponsible and reckless they were. Drop wayyy back in case they crash and get me somehow involved... I have gotten all those impulses out of my system long ago. Sometimes I go to 1 of these deserted roads around the mega campus of these high tech companies and do a few bursts, but never really street racing at all.
That story above is quite a tale. Everybody is in for a buck in this country. It's mind boggling. As far as street racing goes, yeah, I grew up a long time ago, not that I ever engaged in street racing, but I used to drive more irresponsible on public streets than I do today. I long lost the urge to prove myself. I know what I and my car is capable of. I certainly don't need to prove it to anyone with a fart can on their car. Having said that, I drive spirited, but I reserve ***** out driving to deserted canyon roads, the track and German Autobahn whenever I'm over there. I don't really find others wanting to challenge me. Maybe it's because the C63S Coupe doesn't look understated, especially with the Aero package. I actually find that people tend to fall back or get out of my way when I'm coming up behind them. That was not the case in previous cars I owned that looked more similar to their normal siblings. I usually only got those types of reactions when driving a supercar. As I'm writing this, though, I do remember one time I had somebody come up alongside and revving/signaling to race. I simply looked over and waved him off with a no and he moved on. If I remember correctly he was in some American muscle car.
