I picked up my car today which culminated a long ordering, production, and delivery. There were no deletes from the ordering sheet, but the dealer told me that some options on cars that were ordered several months ago had seats and drive assistance options removed by the factory. Anyway, the car is totally awesome. The MBUX command structure will take hours to get used to finding appropriate settings.

Here are a couple of pictures from this morning:

Literally awesome, congrats! Fantastic ride!

Question, so MB basically did not install options that you had ordered? If true, do you know if this is covid related? Seems like many vehicles getting ordered recently are delivered missing options.

No! My car was complete! Future production is having multi-contour seats eliminated and drive assistance options.

I got 5% discount, and a $500 rebate from MBCA. A very reasonable deal as the salesman had to trade a GLS63 for the original allocation. Everything that I specified was on the car. The MSRP was around $144,000. I also ordered an interior cargo mat, a warning triangle, and a tire changing kit.

I misread. I thought you had options being deleted during production due to unforeseen reasons.

Wow, so for 125K plus no massage seats or driver assistance? WTF?

I heard that the supplier had COVID issues. The seats are not orderable until 2Q.

Yes, it's COVID related. There's a global worsening automotive semiconductor shortage, because the semiconductor industry expected lower demand and shifted to consumer electronics and they can't easily shift back. There have been several reports of options being dropped by the factory on ordered cars due to component shortages and them not wanting to hold up production. Some weird configurations are leaving the factory, too, with only partially working or equipped features. Somebody got their C43 with the AMG Drive Unit on the steering wheel, but non-functional. They don't light up or do anything. Another person got a C300, which according to the spec sheet has the analog instrument cluster, but instead was equipped with a partially functioning digital instrument cluster made to work similar to the analog cluster. Not a good time to order a car at the moment. You don't know what you might get.

Initial impressions:

1. Comfort mode is a bit smoother with less road impacts, but still a taut ride.
2. Car will go into (and stay in) 4-cyl mode much longer.
3. Interior noise level down due to the extra insulation and thicker glass.
4. Voice recognition greatly improved over my 2018 E63S.
5. MBUX is very advanced and not always intuitive to find settings. Took me 20 minutes to find the seat massage settings and setting the dynamic mode.
6. I confirmed that the cashcam works with my USB drive in the armrest storage.
7. The reflectors on the front fender do not light up (my bad)
8. CCB brakes are very smooth and easy to modulate.
9. The wireless charging pad for my cell phone is larger than before. My phone fits easily now.
10. I won the tire lottery with Michelin's installed.

When I placed my order, the multi contour and massage seats option was gray’ed out. No selectable. Did not hear about Driver Assistant. If it shows up without DA, I just won’t take delivery. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Great looking car OP. Enjoy in good health. 👍❤️

Congrats! Great looking build. I am hoping my request from my dealer becomes a real build sometime soon. Hopefully the massage seats return soon. My question is how does it sound compared you your 2018? Some of the videos sound as if it's so much quieter then the pre face lift cars.

Great looking car, glad you got the tires. My SA tells me mine still has the seats, hopefully that does not change. Supposed to be built in 2 weeks. Enjoy your car.

Good question, Im wondering about the sound too—in particular from someone who has lived with both versions.

Good luck on your build. I'll have to wait until I have 1000 miles on the clock to really check out the exhaust note. Complicating this is that I'm coming from an E63S sedan without the Acoustic package to the wagon with that package. Probably won't be the same loudness inside the car.

Nothing wrong with “firm” acceleration during break-in, a little cylinder pressure helps seat the piston rings. What you want to avoid is excessive revs and maintaining the same engine speed for extended periods (eg cruise control on the highway). So firm acceleration at lower revs (up to 4500-5000ish max) and vary engine speeds. Oh, and get the oil changed at 1000mi and politely ignore anyone telling you its not necessary until 20,000mi or whatever. Enjoy!

every time you start the car, would it now engage/remember in the last mode (comfort, indiv, sport, sport+, race) you left in when the car is turned off ? I wonder if MB has done anything to this aspect at all.

If only they would make stop/start defeat permanent. So annoying having to punch that button every time I start the car. Some manufacturers do this, MB does not. So far.

No, that's not gonna happen due to regulation. In order to continue to offer less efficient driving modes, they are required to start the car in the mode that it was certified in. At a minimum the Drive setting has to revert. That's what Audi does for example. They leave the drive mode in the last mode, but if the engine/transmission was in Sport when the car gets turned off, it will be in normal mode next time leading to a lot of confusion, because the drive mode says one thing, but the reality could be another thing if they don't understand the engine/transmission situation. With MBUX they added an option where you can have a prompt when starting the car that asks if you wanna restore the previous DYNAMIC SELECT mode. You only get a few seconds to make the decision before it goes away. This is as much as they can do. It complies with the requirement that the less drive efficient modes have to be deliberately activated by the driver and are not allowed to be activated automatically during startup. At one point the AMG GT remembered the last selected mode for 4 hours after turning off the engine, so it would restart in the same mode during that time window, but even that got shot down by the regulators.

So in love with graphite and carbon fiber. Please post more pics, especially some closeups of the exterior trim. I built my car around the carbon fiber. Lol
