Xpel Interior Protection

Just ordered this Kit, noticed that my interior especially around the gear selector started to get scratched.

I Will post pictures once installed ( should be simple to install DIY) , kinda expensive came up around 400, but i think its worth it, some similar kits on Ebay sell for 60-70$ but i don't think quality will be as good as XPEL

Just wanted to share with you guys...

OMG. That may be an 'overkill'. My only scratches thus far is the piano black centre console.

I am not sure how simple the DIY will be, but I *don't have any experience with it. Not very applicable for matte wood guys like me, but I am curious to hear how you like it.

Am thinking about using a ceramic coating on my interior shiny surfaces (e.g. console). While it doesn't prevent scratches, it should help minimize them.

I cosign this as a good idea. My wife put a high heel through the aluminum trim in my M5, scratched the trim on my E63 with a handbag, and somehow took an entire gouge out of the wood trim on my CLS63. Do the PPF and let me know how it works as I'm in the market for an E63 and don't want my resident destroyer-in-chief to ruin the interior on this car too.

The dealer that I bought my CPO vehicle at offered an interior & exterior ceramic coating for $1K. I opted not too. I'm interested in your results.

Wow. Thanks for sharing. This is essential. So happy it is available and precut. I could see the carbon fiber trim getting wrecked over the years.

I'm interested in seeing the final result once installed. My experience with pre-cut film has been that they are generally not all the way to the edge of the panel, so you'll end up seeing the film edges which would probably annoy me more than some light swirl marks. I think it's a no brainer on piano black, but any other trim I'd probably keep stock or just to a ceramic coating.

Literally the dash piece on an E60 M5, and it's not like there was something freaky going on either, she was reaching for something in the back seat. I would be okay if there was a good story behind it.

Is the carbon fiber as bad as piano black or lacquered wood for micro scratches? I had been hoping it'd be a little more durable and had read a couple posts across various threads that seemed to imply that.

I think the carbon fiber (which i love) handled the micro scratches pretty well because of the varied cross pattern of the CF weave, but its still a glossy finish that can be scratched and noticeable for bigger/deeper scratches. When my car returned from its first major dealer service to replace an infotainment module under the passenger side dash that had gone haywire, I noticed a big 3-4” long scratch almost dead center on the trim above the glovebox. I was pretty annoyed. Hoping to minimize some of that with the matte black ash wood trim in my 2021 wagon order.
