Can refurbing alloys or painting brake callipers void warranty?

Can refurbing alloys or painting brake callipers void warranty?
Hi all,

Looked through my U.K. warranty document and couldn’t see anything specific, all it mentions is that warranty does not apply if the car is modified or altered outside of manufacturer’s standard specifications. Surely that could refer to anything, even if I put a cushion in the car.

So if I was to get the alloys refurbed/painted and the brake callipers painted a different colour, could they kick up a fuss if I needed to use the warranty for a brake or wheel issue?

I wouldn't think so: is it a lease? If so that might be an issue when you return it. But if not, I'd say go for it and have some fun.

Talk to the service manager for the dealer you would use for warranty work. What you're told isn't cast in stone but it is better than a guess.

it's not going to void the warranty of the function of either part unless that modification has a direct result in the part failing.

No lease, I purchased the car outright so don’t have to worry about handing back clauses or anything

Yeah, I may give them a call. I have a feeling to cover themselves they may tell me not do it though....

Okay that makes sense. So I’m guessing it’s okay to do but if the paint flakes or something and messes up the brakes then warranty will be null and void
