2018 E 63 S Edition 1

Hello Forum,

Long time lurker, that finally decided to register to engage and further my knowledge on a prestegious line of cars.

Currently in the market for a CPO 2018 E 63. Looking to put 20 down and finance around 65-70k.
Last week, a closer dealer to me had a 2018 black magno edition 1 come in. At first i didnt think i would like the matte exterior, but after seeing it in person today, its def a beautiful look. After test driving it and feeling its power I def knew my next car would be the e 63. However, I didnt know if its particularly this edition 1. WIth 26,000 miles on it, salesman told me their dealer prices is 92,400. A little bit above my budget, but i wated to see of anyone had more information on this particular edition. rough estimate on how many were produced? Gentleman stated that it was the first year they did it in this spec. The one thing he said that really stood out was due to scarcity, this edition depreciates less. I dont really know how true that is due to many market fundamentals. Any and all hep would be appreciated!

Ed1 or not, with 26k miles I would not go a penny over $75k.

LOL ^^^, don't listen to this guy. They produced 213 edition 1 and they are extremely hard to come by in good condition. This is coming from someone that owns an edition one and traveled to multiple dealers until i found the perfect one.

I think the answer is somewhere in the middle here. 26k miles is a lot, I'm not an expert auto negotiator but I'd beat them into the mid 80's. CPO just means it's a used car.

The car is in superior condition. Im looking to drive less than 10k miles on it a year, as it wont be my daily driver.

With that being said, any regrets in buying your own edition one?

Keep in mind that the Edition 1 was released before the mid-year update for the official 2018 MY cars. So it won't have the updated LED lighting, and some other bits.

But it will have the night black magno paint, which I really like, and will be one of a small number of cars as noted above.

Definitely something to consider, thanks for the input!

Yes that paint is really sleek in person. Love the blacked out badges.

I would think my next move is to find a post update vehicle, with a standard exterior, and compare

The only way you will find an Edition 1 for $75k is if it has serious title issues (lemon/accident) and even that is a stretch. I searched for a few months until I found a couple with mileage around 25,000 to 30,000 and they were both priced around $98K which I thought was a little high. While I was negotiating with those two dealers I ended up finding a CPO with only 10k miles for $92k and I jumped on it. Had to have it shipped from FL to CA but I thought it was a pretty solid deal. I would suggest doing full PPF.

I think 26k miles might not be a lot, depending on the in service date. But that said, it’s a lot for someone without a budget. Might be something someone with a budget has to weight.

Some examples in Chicago, these are asking prices not sale prices, mind you:
2019 E63S , 8800 miles, $93K
2020E63S , 2855 miles, $92,900
2018 E63S, 19k miles, $88k
2018 E63S, 17k miles, $86k,
2018 E63S, 24k miles, $82k
2018 E63S, 28k miles, $81k
That's ONE dealer inventory only.
Do you really believe they are firm on these asking prices?
My own brother bought a used 63 Wagon last year, asking $102k, sale $92k
Ed 1 while desirable, means nothing for the actual trade in value down the road and it's premium is diminishing with every year passed.
It was only my personal opinion that I would not pay more then $75k and last time I checked we still have a freedom to have our own opinions.
Anyone else?
They can pay $140k for that car for all I care.

Still on the high side, besides to a few AMG lovers the first edition doesn't really have any value besides what it has on it in terms of equipment and options
I would probably pick a not first edition and keep 20k in your pocket

Our Ed1 was a great car and love the looks. To me, the paint was the best option for the E63s. MSRP is a bit higher than other cars at $136k but the car works as a package although Burmester 3D or Alcantara headliner would have been nice. There are some differences in Comand/interior LED lighting as mentioned, but nothing of relevance (just do a search on ED1). I believe the LED options can be coded now if this matters. Our dealer kept the car after we returned it (lease) and it sold within a couple of days ...

Whichever E63s you get, I suggest to find one with CCB's. Good luck!

Im the lucky one to own an edition one in my area. well i think its a bit symbolic and kind of limited edition (not sure how many mb built around world) accroding to its ccb brake, exterior colour, carbon trims, yellow stitching, bucket seats and piano black everywhere. really stands out the crowd. and its fully loaded version apart from perfume system and soft-closed doors. just love it in pieces and big gin on my face everytime i sit in it.

Yeah you're the guy who created an account "matteblacke63" and was like "should I buy this car?" when you had already bought the car lmfao.

Just purchased an ED1 2 weeks ago and the LED light issue has been bothering me because I test drove a standard E63S and it had the LED light cycle system. Do you happen to have any more information on the coding for the LED?

I also can’t figure out how to find my track pace app or measure 0-60 etc. any help is appreciated

The Edition 1 cars were all built before the refresh in the middle of the 2017 calendar year. This refresh is as near as I understand, the beginning of the actual 2018 model year build.

The Edition 1 cars do not have the updated LED lighting or Track Pace app. My understanding is that these are hardware updates and you can't code the functionality into the car.

I could be wrong, and hope I am for your sake, but that's what I've heard.

I saw an Ed 1 this weekend and it looked great. Not having the adaptive LED with the SW "fix" would be annoying. Driving at night is actually fun on the dark roads just for the light show!

Good luck to OP. Scarcity is an issue, and if you really want to maximize your bang for your buck, I would just get a '19 or '20. I concur on the CCB... almost a must have for a car of this caliber.

Sorry, looking at the post from 24 Hours I think I may have misread the question. I was referring to the internal LED lighting, not the headlight intelligent LED lighting option.

If the ED 1 cars were equipped with the Intelligent lighting option, then I would think they could be coded to work as designed instead of being lobotomized for the US market.

The ODB module from Vlad worked great on my car and I think is a must for any E63 equipped with the Intelligent LED headlights that gets driven much at night outside the city.

Not necessarily. My 2018 ED 1 wagon was built 04/18 and has the track pack plus LED intelligent light system and the interior light bar update too. But the three wagons are a bit of an anomaly so maybe based on the 2019 model at that point in time?

Ed1 ones are sick. I would pick one up if you can. I think I seen only one only where I live. So they are definitely unique and rare.

It happens to know who owned this car and it was a 10 condition. It sold on Bring a Trailer and no one should be surprised when nice V8 goes up in price because in 5 years you'll not going to be able to buy a new one. New gen AMG is 4 and 6 with hybrid tech, which will be faster than a V* now but more complicated and not as fun as a V* sound. Like i said in a different post: with more electric cars coming in the market and future ban on ICE car, i believe that people who can buy and hold on some nice built last gen V8 ( not just Mercedes) will make some good money down the road.
