21 E63s Wagon Needs Exhaust - Help!

Just picked up a new 21 E63s Wagon and loving it. That said, it needs a bit more growl. Any advice out there on exhaust? It seems as if the US cars do not have OPF, and the exhaust system is pretty efficient and free flowing so I am skeptical if any aftermarket system would increase volume. Any help there? I would be open to a downpipe if anyone has successfully used one with an 02 simulator or something as I do not want to tune the car just for more volume. Thank you all for the help.

Congrats! Looking very sharp next to your G wagon. Yeh, turbos suck when it comes to exhaust sound. IDK maybe try Akra. Enjoy.

Mikes-customs, he's from Russia but his downpipes are top notch. Been running 300 cell GESI catted downpipes without a tune for a while now without any CEL or any problems, the sound is comparable to catless without the smell, very good option to go with

Nice spec, very close to my ‘18, minus the yellow stitching (Magno, all carbon including brakes) I went with Renntech downpipes and AWE switchpath cartback. Mainly went Renntech because I found a deal on a used set and was hoping to avoid any potential issues at the dealer being a Renntech part if I ever needed to bring it in for something.

I had catless downpipes when I first bought the car, and it was louder for sure than high flow catted set up that’s on it now. The high flow catted DPs and AWE catback have a different tone than stock and are considerably louder. I I I wasn’t able to get it to run right catless with O2 foolers and no tune. Some people haven’t had issues but I wasn’t one of them. It was really, really loud. Cold, sport+, open valve starts in the garage were amazing.

Aftermarket systems WILL increase the volume and also increase the quality of the sound. If overall best sound is what you're going for then my W213 E63 clients all agree that the IPE is the one to go for:

thanks for the reply. I guess my question still remains- has anyone run cat back exhaust only and seen an increase in volume? I might be open to catted Dow pipes as well but even that is technically an engine voiding mod to my understanding.

thanks but this video has catless exhaust. Which customers are running just catback? Would love to hear from them.

IPE's exhaust for the W213 E63 works for both the Sedan & Wagon. If you'd like to order let us know.

Im guessing it won’t be much louder with just a catback. Tone would change, but probably not much louder. The stock performance catback is more or less straight through with the valves open.

I think you may be correct. Aside from perhaps diameter, when you compare the AWE exhaust against OEM the only difference I can see (without cutting open the mufflers ) is that the OEM has two H pipes and the AWE has only one.

I just wish someone had some experience and feedback on all this.

This is correct, I was under my car wondering if there was a resonator I could cut out, but it's just a straight pipe with some big mufflers. Downpipes would be the biggest game changers for sound, and personally I would go catted.

Have you considered a mod that keeps the exhaust valve / flap open at all times? I hear that gives a deeper / louder sound generally, even if it doesn't increase the frequency or volume of crackle/pop
