Lurker and been waiting a while for this one. Had a 21 on order, moved to a 22, then cancelled. 6 months of anticipation gone. i was able to locate one in Baton Rouge and the dealership was amazing. In transit to me and should receive tomorrow. Not the exact spec I had built, but nothing I can’t modify after. Happy to be part fo the club.
Yes the pictured car is at Akron but no it’s not my car, sorry explained this above in post #85. I called them to purchase the pictured car but it was sold by the time I got to it. BUT, they had an incoming car in identical colors but with more options that someone had recently abandoned, so I snagged that one. So, not my exact car but looks the same as what I have coming.

I have a 2021 E63S build originally scheduled to be built in July but now scheduled for back half of Sept. This was a dealer build, i just put my deposit down a few weeks back.
On the build sheet however, it now has a code that states Omission - Augmented Reality and Retrofit - Telematics. This has been recently changed due to chip shortage (we assume) however I wanted to ask if anyone else has seen this.
MB Canada sheet only says $300 credit to customer, and no word if it’s something that can be updated or added later. My only assumption is that they don’t anticipate having enough chips for augmented reality and it won’t be sent, while the telematics will eventually arrive but not ship with the far. MB Canada had no additional details and the dealership and I have both been searching for any answers. I suspect the functionality is just dependant on the chip since the rest of the equipment exists already, can’t this be updated later?

Since "Retrofit" is stated there, I would assume it is possible. Isn't it all controlled by the HERMES module that is to be retrofitted next year?
Retrofit only shows up next to telematics however, Augmented Reality shows omission. I suspect these are two different modules then?
My bad, didn't see that. Augmented reality uses the camera located near the top of the windshield (close to the rain sensor and the sensor used by the intelligent light system). If that hardware is missing it is unlikely retrofittable by the dealership unless they install that hardware then install the software.

I don’t think any hardware like that will be installed by the dealership but they seem to have done simple chipsets and modules.

For the Intelligent drive and mostly DISTRONIC, all the sensors to make it work is located in the MB star.

True, shortage of chips is the New Reality, other manufacturers are impacted as well and some scaling down production. At least we can get the car and enjoy the beast while waiting for the fix…

This sounds exactly like my experience, and $300 is hardly much to credit for a car in this price range. Are you dealing with MB Canada or MBUSA?
I’d rather just have it retrofitted when it’s available. I’m not sure what can be done, my order has a VIN but still isn’t built so I’m a bit concerned if it’s even going to show up.
