I'm not too surprised by that. The service side of the house is where a good chunk of dealer revenue and profit comes from. It could also be a more pallatable response to a customer than MBUSA won't let us do it--if that is even true. Maybe for the AMG wagons there are specific rules about allocations that force the dealer's hand.

I didn't know that. Kind of weird though a dealership In New Hampshire was going to sell me a wagon no problem but I didn't want to pay 20k over. Knowing what I know now I wish I would've just done it

I've read here in several threads where new E63 sedans and wagons were purchased out of state. That leads me to believe the "forbid to sell to another market" isn't truthful.

I had no problem buying an AMG wagon out of California and having it shipped to Texas where I live.

The only "legit" excuse I've heard is from dealers worried about exportation. They get in existential trouble with Mercedes if a new car they sell ends up on a boat overseas. Land Rover dealers are even more paranoid. My dealer was only taking orders from existing and past customers on Defenders when I was ordering my wife's. Before that they were worried about SVRs and other limited models since someone could double or triple their money exporting.

Were they charging ADM for the one in MA?

Recent lurker, figured now was as good time as any to first-post. I started my E63S4S search in Early 2021 and, as expected, didn't have much luck finding allocations in my area. I was told all sorts of things, including (even back in April) that 2021 was a long shot regardless of where I looked and even worse, 2022 wasn't going to happen (I didn't believe that part at the time). For a hot minute I expanded my mindset to the RS6, but Audi put a bad taste in my mouth when the largest dealer in the area said MSRP +10K during my first conversation with them (fast forward a few months and this all seems very normal now).
I started spending time at MBWorld just to see other people's stories and maybe learn something. I came across a post (I can't even remember what it was about) and someone said "you should talk X at dealer Y". The person was so adamant about liking them that, even though it was a distance away and felt like a long shot I called. I left a voicemail and forgot about it. About a week later I got a call back and we had a refreshingly normal conversation (I've become jaded over the years about dealing with new people). During the chat he casually mentions "it's funny you called about the wagon, we have 1 allocation left, do you want it?". And so it was, May 2021 became the beginning of that journey. Fast forward to 9/15 and my order was converted to "B5 - Produced not ship". 2 weeks later I was just told my baby is on a vessel and according to marinetraffic . com is somewhere in the English Channel. It sounds like 10 days until it hits the good 'ol US of A, then hopefully soon after that I'll have more updates.
In case anyone wants to make fun of my spec sheet here goes (I didn't get the night package - call me crazy I but I like a little chrome in my life or ceramic, both of which seem to be defacto choices around here).

Short version: I seem to have gotten lucky and hopefully soon I'll officially be a fellow owner. Glad to be here.

I can see that, but aren't the wagons more common over seas? I don't see why they'd be worried about me exporting it because I'm financing most of the car

dude I'm so jealous of your color combo it's the spec I would've ordered for sure plus a few more options. My stories a lot like yours I've been lurking here since about may and picked up a already spec'd dealer allocation. But my wagon keeps getting pushed and I don't think I'll have it till December. I'm impatient so I bought a nice spec'd sedan that I can hopefully trade in for the wagon fairly easily. Enjoy your car man wish I could've got that color

Actually, BBM wagon should NOT have Night Package. The press car is the same.

Anyway, my car says “Hi”

Congrats! Great spec and agree with you on omitting the night package, the trend is getting a little overdone and blues look better with the silver trim anyway. Your interior combo is interesting, definitely never seen that one before and I’d bet you’re one of very few (if not only) wagons with it—in the US anyway. Post pics!

Congrats and great spec! BBM is the best color. I have people run across parking lots to take pictures of my BBM wagon. I have the night pack and like it, but I think the silver looks awesome as well.

CC brakes are awesome. I did not get them. From a purely daily driver perspective, they're an unnecessary expense. However, after cleaning the brake dust off my black wheels for the 10,000th time ... I kinda wish I had sprung for them.

Enjoy the ride. Post pics when you get it.

I debated a designo color vs. CCB's when I specified my options on my 2021 wagon. I chose the brakes in the end and got the Graphite Grey. I don't believe that many wagons were produced in this color. Perhaps 3 years from now, or sooner, if I sell the car, the rarity will add to the resale value. I continue to receive unsolicited offers on my wagon even though I've not been actively pursuing a sale. The new MB EV offerings are nice, but I'm waiting to see if there will be a wagon offering.

The EQS has 63 cubic feet of storage with the rear seats folded, vs 64 feet for the E wagon. I'm starting to think about one if my E63 order falls through.

Interesting!! Is the rear a trunk opening or a hatchback?

The EQS is also 20" longer than the wagon.
