AMG E63 Hammer Wagon. Alfa, Rover, Ferrari, Porsche.
I’ll miss my fire-breathing ICE vehicles, the sound and drama. I plan to hang onto a few as long as possible, including the E63 wagon maybe. EVs are already impressive and will only get better. I just figure Ill enjoy the pinnacle of ICE technology since Im around for it.

Last year I installed Tesla solar panels and Powerwalls rated for 120% of annual household energy use (though it might be even higher) in part to offset the E63s’ CO2 emissions and to prepare for an electric vehicle. The E63s is for sure my last ICE.

Hard to imagine that they will go from an 8 to 4 cylinder. Seems short sighted to eliminate even a 6 cylinder with electric assist. Glad I have my 2021 and can't forsee getting rid of it if this is the future of the model.

I purchased a 7 yr 100000 mile extended warranty when I purchased my wagon. That gives me enough runway to see what develops over the next 3-4 years. I do believe that AMG.has refined the 4 cyl motor to yield over 480 hp in subsequent vehicles. Not too shabby IMO.

I'm sure they can get the HP up to 600 or whatever they want with a 4 cyl and electric motors. Maybe I'm way out there, but I just can't get excited about the idea. Now, having the same engine that the 2021 E63 has with a few hundred HP of electric assist could change my mind. I will watch with interest to see how it all unfolds.

Yeah exactly, but if the news above is accurate it would seem that AMG is restricting that powertrain (V8TT + electric, already available in Europe I’m told) to the AMG GT 4-door, and presumably further up the food chain eventually. I can somewhat understand the 4-banger in the C class, but not E’s…
For those that think this is no big deal, I wonder if you’ve heard an M139? As impressive as the engineering is, they sound pretty uh…uninspiring. Go have a listen to any of the current baby AMGs. If you’re scoffing because this whole noise and emotion thing is some silly romantic notion, then just go buy a Model S Plaid because it’ll be way faster than the next AMG E’s and you can get it now.

Audi has some recorded sound from the E-Tron on their website. It has a nice futuristic sound that is pleasant for an EV. I believe that will be the future of pleasant sound that will replace what we love about V8s.

Well put. I've not heard a really good sounding 4 cyl from any manufacurer. Some better than others. None have that pleasing sound of a well built V8 with a good exhaust design. Most remind me of what a fart in a tin can would sound like. I love my 2021 sedan and certainly not thinking about replacing it at this point. As I said, I might change my mind if something came along with the same V8 and an additional 200 or so HP electric assist. If that is only in a GT-S 4 door I could see being interested.

Unfortunately with the ever more stringent noise regulations, exterior sound is going away whether 8 cyl or 4 cyl. Have you heard the EU spec GT BS? Total disappointment. Haven't heard a US spec yet w/o the OPF.

JesMB is now saying E63 will use detuned powertrain from the S63e and GT63e, but emissions are only going to be tighter by the time it’s released.
