Hermes module delivery?

Has anyone waiting on the Hermes module received an ETA for installation? Just curious.

Good question.
Based on number of replies (or lack of) nobody here needs Hermes module?

I've got a call in to my service guy... I'll let you know what he says.

I've had my car for about 6 months now and still waiting on the Hermes module. Bought car out of state so I don't expect dealer to update me. Will have first oil change in a month or so at local dealer, at that point I will inquire. Certainly curious to see how everyone else fares.

I, too, bought my car from out of state and haven’t heard anything. When I bought the car, there was talk of getting it fitted this month. Hopefully when it does become available, and for those of us who bought our cars from out of state, I hope there will be some mechanism in place where we’re notified as well.

It's March now. Are the missing modules becoming available to be installed? I've seen no evidence of the retrofit yet.

No evidence so far, just the opposite:
Circular reference if one is asking--> dealer has no clue, when you ask MBUSA customer service they refer to the dealer….
Looks like taking delivery of these crippled cars was a major mistake.
Maybe hunting for this module on the internet and purchasing is the only alternative
anybody has the part number?

My sales guy said that he hasn't seen or heard of any chips being delivered. MB wants to keep all their chips for new cars being built so that they can be delivered complete and have no concern about making things right with existing customers at this time.

Buyer's remorse? It was nuts to sign off on a crippled car without any firm commitment of when it was going to be made whole. No way would I have accepted such a deal regardless of the meager financial incentive. I wonder if you can turn the cars back to MBUSA until they are corrected? Certainly, if you are leasing the vehicle I would go back to the leasing company and refuse further payment. I was successful in doing so on my first E63S which had the infamous CEL problem. MBUSA covered all of my lease payments until it was resolved. Trust me, that was far more than the measly $300 missing module credit. Just my 2 cents here.

I was just told by my dealer today that the holdup on the delivery of my car from the VPC is that it is awaiting installation of the Hermes module. It has been sitting there for 2 weeks now and I have almost lost my mind as there is one more delay to this painful wait to get this car into my hands. Today he let me know that the module is supposed to be installed and then the vehicle will be delivered soon as a complete vehicle. This is the first one I have heard of. I also asked if they could fix the adaptive headlights to be fully functional. He had no clue that the lights are now able to offer the full features in the US.

So are you saying this feature is finally approved by NHTSA? So we can have service enable this at no cost?

It is, but the devil is in the details. What's allowed in the USA now is still not identical to what's used in the rest of the world, so manufacturers have to adapt them to the USA requirements to be legal. Specifically, the light output cannot exceed the standard set in the 1970s, which is much lower than what's allowed globally. So all car manufacturers first have to evaluate what they can offer before we'll see it on new cars and possibly get it activated retroactively on existing cars.

I would be curious to hear what exactly is involved in getting chip installed. Just how invasive a procedure this will be. For now, not really missing the chip and I’m not sure I want my car operated on yet. My car may not need the chip vaccine 🧐 Nobody seemed to know what the process would be.

Better to stay away from vaccine since your car may be lobotomized by this chip. In the best case, all of mechanics will take turns in joy rides and may cause irreversible damage!
LOL!

After reading the new posts, I called my dealer here in Boston on Tuesday to see if they had an update on the availability of the modules. First I called parts and was told that the module is ready to be ordered. Ordered? So then I called the service dept and was told that the module is in fact now available and I was scheduled for installation next Thursday. Let’s see how this goes.

I suggest anyone waiting on their Hermes module to call their dealerships. After reading this, I did. At first I was told it was on back order, but a little while later I was told they had it ready to install. I'm due in on Monday to get mine put in.

I would even suggest calling to confirm they received parts even if you have an appointment. I had an appointment this morning but they hadn’t received the part yet. Told me they believe it will arrive Monday. Good thing I called before driving over. Hopefully I can get installed mid week next week.

I picked up my car last week, apparently with the module intact as it was supposedly installed at the Baltimore VPC, however the tech guy at the dealer wasn't able to communicate with it. Still waiting for that to happen.

Well finally got the module installed today. Gotta see all the functionality but at least I got Mercedes Me now. Too bad they couldn’t incorporate wireless CarPlay. Wired CarPlay is so 2017.
