AMG GT 63S E Performance

In this case, maybe or just maybe lesser variants of a certain lineup of MBs do end up having more cylinders than the greater variants. That exception according to the article is on the GLC at least so far, time will tell for other lineups of MBs.
I own a 2023 model which I’ve had for approximately 1.5 years and driven about 15,000 km. For the first 10,000 km, I only charged it couple of times because I managed to keep the battery range around half capacity using regenerative braking. I enjoyed the instant electric boost whenever I needed it, and I mostly drove in comfort mode. This setting allowed me to start the car silently in the neighborhood, automatically switching to the combustion engine when more power was needed on the highway.
In S+ and race mode, the car was an absolute beast, as you’d expect. Despite its weight, the additional electric boost made it faster than a regular engine counterpart.
However, I noticed an issue when the weather turned colder. The EV system took significantly longer to warm up, causing the car to behave erratically. The amperage levels would drop, malfunctions would appear on the display, and the car would go into limp mode. Since it was an electrical malfunction, the ECU would get confused, requiring a trip to the workshop to clear the errors. Without this reset, the car couldn’t properly calculate and manage the high horsepower.
I wondered if the problem was my fault—perhaps not charging the car frequently enough had caused the battery issues—but the dealership couldn’t provide me with any clear answers. I started charging the car more regularly, even when it wasn’t necessary, but the problem persisted. This issue has left a lasting “scar” on the car’s performance and reliability.
Now, the dealership is ordering a new battery, but I likely won’t see my car for a couple of months.
I’ve always waited for new technologies to improve before adopting them, avoiding being a “volunteer tester.” But after this experience, I feel compelled to share my story. It makes me doubt we’ll ever see vintage hybrid or EV sports cars in the future.
