Torn CV Boot Solution?

So I have a 2018 E63 Wagon with a front left CV boot that is torn. What I have been told so far (by MB dealer and 3rd party repair shop) that the only solution is replacing the entire left axel since there's no fix to replace the boot cover.

Anyone know of anything? I've seen boot kits for the W212.

I doubt that’s true. The left outboard CV boot repair kit is A213 330 00 06.

Replacing both sides will end up being over 6K in costs.

I linked you to a part that costs $550, so we are talking $1,100 in parts for both sides, you mean to tell me they're quoting almost $5k in labor? Are they flying out Michael Kubler to fix it?

The joint has to be kept almost hospital clean. Any specks of dirt will destroy the joint quickly. That's why it's really a bad idea to replace a torn boot. It's almost 100% that the joint has been contaminated. A decent mechanic won't do it.

I'm curious how this happened. I've been daily driving over two years, midwest winter and summers and recently had the car on the lift for inspection, everything looked new.

Tbh I’m not sure. I had the dealer switch out my winters to summers and they informed me of the damage. The repair cost is 3500 for parts and labor for the left axel.

tbh I prefer to use MB parts. The dealer quoted $3500 for labor and parts for the left axel. Third party repair shop was $2500.

so multiply that for both sides :-(
