Question: should my 2023 E63S estate have the augmented reality view in the satnav? It doesn't appear to, and the reading I've done suggests it should be standard but I can't confirm it. Would be good to know whether it's an error that it's not there before I go speaking to Mercedes.

Try typing in your VIN here and look for U19 Augmented reality video:
https://mb.vin/
(P.S. I never click "submit" or any links on that page. All clicks seems to go to click bait and paid vin research sites and I get lost in SPAM. Just look for and first click the "I am not a robot" checkbox, then click in the VIN typing box, type in the VIN and press [enter])
And what bobblehead said - some cars just didn't get it due to chip shortages. If your VIN doesn't list U19 you don't have it.

Also need to talk to them about the foot-activated tailgate not really working, but that's another story.

I checked the VIN and U19 is not there. I understand from comments here that technically it should be. What should I be saying to Mercedes about this? Can they add it after the fact? And if not should they offer something in mitigation?

It turned out that mb.vin was accurate, at least in my experience, but yes, definitely ask the dealer for your build sheet. If they don't understand and want to print you out or e-mail you the pricing sheet with the marketing names of features, etc, tell them no, you want them to give you a copy of the build sheet with build codes etc. The salesman may or may not understand, so you might have to ask a manager (this is what I had to do.)

If mb uk offers you very little refund, then tell them to install the missing equipment, i am sure they will rethink their low ball offer as it will likely cost them a lot of resources to get it done.

I am seeing some aftermarket shop in your region (UK) may be able to provide the augmented reality hardware/software for 900 British pounds. Of course, it is not oem equipment and does not include labor cost.

If anyone in Canada is looking for a deal on the leftovers 23 E63S wagon ... MSRP $172,380 + $18,320 in lux tax and fees - $18,000 discount. Leasing for 4 yrs residual is 36%. Pretty ugly.

Special thanks to the collective who helped on the ‘23 I was eyeing off in Texas. The stop sale to June was brought fwd to a few weeks back, and was fortunately still in the deal. What a phenomenal car!

Just paid California use tax and registration on a low-miles 2018 E63 S Wagon brought in from out-of-state. The tax? A touch over $10K. It's just ridiculous in a "make me physically ill" sort of way. California has to horn in on my once-in-a-lifetime dream car, because.... why exactly?

One wrinkle in the NC Highway use tax if you lease a car in NC, the tax is assessed only for the lease payment. You will never pay the full amount. One of the reasons that I never purchase a car in NC.

Good point Harris. I've never leased a car and was unaware of that. We have always purchased since living in NC.

Just did a quick scan for the leftovers 2023 E63S wagon inventories in Canada ... there are still 11 of them sitting at dealers lots and they are showing min. $15,000 Cdn discount off right now.

New Hampshire is one I'm familiar with and they don't impose a direct sales tax but the yearly registration cost is based on a variable dollar amount per thousand of the MSRP and the age of the vehicle. The variable dollar amount per thousand of the MSRP lessens over time but it's always based upon the original MSRP of the car.
As an example of purchasing a new $90K car in New Hampshire, your first year registration would be $1,620. Year two would be $1,350, and so on. So they still get the "tax".
