Wasn't thrilled with exterior color on original wagon and hastily pre-traded back to my dealer to place new order for 2022 with custom interior and exterior. Then production stopped day after my order locked) Settled for one that wasn't my spec. A few months later found out there'd be a 2023 so I sold in anticipation of new order. I enjoy torturing myself. Makes me feel alive.

Self inflicted pain here too. Now I'm trying to figure out how to get the chrome Nike fender thing instead of carbon, and the rocker panel long trim piece in silver instead of carbon, but keep the carbon front and rear carbon bits. I'm thinking I will have to order those trim pieces in chrome myself and replace the carbon. That's probably easier then deleting carbon, and trying to buy the carbon front splitter and rear valence separately.
You'd think for this much money we'd have more optionality.

The Nike swoops are easy, they just pop on/off with 3 pins. My car showed up with broken black swoops that should have been carbon (they must've got stolen in port or it was an oversight, weird either way). Dealer ordered the correct carbon bits and I popped them on. As for the rockers, I don't believe you can change them without swapping out (and painting) the entire rocker, not worth it. If they really bother you, you could just have them wrapped with a satin silver vinyl. Then, if you change your mind or sell the car, just peel the vinyl off. But, the carbon accent on the rockers is pretty slim and low profile, not sure you'll mind it once you see it in person.

Just wrap those lower pieces of not easily replaceable.

I'm leaning towards removing Carbon I and II packages. Probably for sure the mirrors should be regular silver.
My latest dilemma.
Seeing if sales dude says 'leave it until Germany comes back for changes round 1" or if we need to get ahead of it. I'm usually pretty lazy/relaxed but it seems theses days no one knows what is going on.

When original 2020 order got pushed to 2021 was bummed that I lost analog clock and wheel choice got changed but gained new grill design and softer ride for when I travel to DC and NYC. Keep steering wheel dial setting on S or S+ to avoid cylinder deactivation while on New Mexico smooth roadways. The ride then improved immensely when added DWS06+ A/S tires to dedicated black cross spoke OEM wheels. Have 4 full sized spares with original Summer Run flat tires now in Garage...

Will you keep your '16 as a winter beater?

Curious if you placed the custom color and interior order from your 2022 order for the 2023 build. If I remember correctly, that color combination was really unique.

I don't know what to do
TODAY it gets locked in no changes, right now I have chrome trim and carbon I and II and keep adding and removing the carbon in the configurator spinning the car around to decide if I remove it or not

Harris, my 2023 will not be Porsche's Slate Grey because I ultimately wanted a Mercedes color. Passed on the custom interior because I really grew to love the standard brown offering.

Thanks for the update. I cancelled out my SL63 order because MBUSA decided that the interior color combination with Patagonia Red was not configurable even though it was OK in Germany. I didn't want to incur the customization fee for something Ike that. First world problems.

I would do night package if going with CF. If you want chrome, I’d get rid of the CF. I just don’t think chrome and CF go together.

I don't like the 5 spoke cast wheels. Need cross-spoke silver wheels and not black (RTR). CF inside and outside. No night package.

Great video showcasing my fave interior options. Nevertheless, Mercedes could've taken this interior to another level by using more leather and less plastic.

Brown interior really looks special with the black exterior. Great contrast. The standard wheels are from Frankenstein's lab. Need silver cross-spoke to offset.

If my color didn't get approved this time around, I was going silver/black Classic German build.

At 1:12pm I removed carbon I and II from the build at the dealer level, will see how it goes. I hope it was in time, waiting for confirmation it was changed in time.

@ocdbroker is right all in or all out. Carbon deserves night. If paint was either white or a darker color that’d work. But silver just doesn’t rock the night look for me.

Exterior carbon overrides a lot of Night. The mirror covers, in particular, look great with the contrasting carbon. The only things that the Night Package adds are the black roof rails, black tailpipes and the black window surrounds.
