this is probably what I’ll do, with the contact I have just recieved from the IT guy and I’ll just throw on the summers, have it taken down on a flatbed. And hopefully that works!

I think it should be fine as I’m just going to throw the summer set on there and then have it thrown on a flatbed. Even if I drive it, conditions seem to be fully dry.

The past few days the weather seems good, you should be good but like you said you are going to just throw it on a flatbed so probably should be fine. Good luck to you and hopefully things work out in your favour.

Quick update for everyone interested, I ended speaking to the manager. He said he spoke with his rep and they ran a multitude of tests on the transfer case and in the end decided to cover it under warranty. Im honestly really relieved, now the issue is they say I cant use these rims again, and I guess it makes sense from their perspective as they think the wheels are what cause it. However, they did cost quite a bit. So do you guys think I could throw on some beefy spacers like 20mm and push the rims back out?

If you throw in some spacers yo the wheels, will that rub that outer wheel fender ? 20mm seems a lot to me to correct??

Glad they are covering the job under warranty. You can keep the wheels, but you would use a wheel/tire calculator to make sure you have the correct offset and fender clearance. Make sure you get hub centric spacers.

The square tire set up, who was it recommended by? the selling dealership parts dept. who sold the wheel and tire package?
for the sizing. If they sold you the wheel and tire package and that caused the damage with the wrong offsets / tires...

Glad they are covering it under warranty but am I understanding this correctly, you did not switch dealerships and stayed with MB Burlington? I am guessing that means you didn't take your car to MB Oakville?

Can you post up the wheel/tire combo you are using for winter all sizes of the rims/offset/tires/aspect ratio?
And can you confirm your stock summer sizes are the 20" with 295 and 265?

I'm very curious on what flagged the "incorrect wheel diameter" or whatever code in the computer.

Your experience has made me gun shy now when (if) I pickup my 2023 if I say "yes" to the dealer's snow package. I normally just go source my own. I don't want any problems later with warranty too, so may opt to just overpay for their snows...

our e63s wheel offsets are very difficult to find in aftermarket wheels to begin with.

sure I’ll upload my winter and summer specs in a bit once I get home. I think it was my rims offset they said that was too low, the rest of the specs were fine.

it was actually done by a local wheel shop that recommended the setup. But it should’ve been fine because mercedes own wheel department was selling a square setup for this car. It was just like 7k+ with installation and I thought that was a crazy price for some pirelli snow tires

Yea I was just on the verge of switching dealerships but then they finally agreed!

dealer will never recommend spacers to be put on. If something goes wrong with a recommendation, dealer is on the hook for any repair issue out of pocket. They may tell you but it will be off the record and you are to take soley responsible for whatever happens afterwards.

Respectfully, If I were you I would count my lucky stars and never discuss modification with this or other dealers again. Talk to a pro shop about spacers and wheels and take their advice and then if any warranty issues slap on your OEM stock rims, get rid of spacers, and flat bed it to the dealer and play dumb.

about the only thing you can ask this particular dealer about is what recommendation they have for winter wheels, and tires that would not void or alter the warranty in any way, and then purchase this set from them or somebody they work with. Clearly I know and understand you've already invested in wheels and tires and don't want to have to do it again.

So my stock sizes are 245/35/20 and 275/30/20, I honestly dont have the exact spec of the new tires and rims but I believe its the same size and everything except the rim is 19 inch with a smaller offset. Once i get the car back I will let you know.

Also has anyone swapped out their original runflats? I want to switch to michelin Pilot Sport A/S 4 but my dealer tells me thats going to void many warranties as the new tires HAVE to be runflats. I may just go to a different dealer if anyone else has had any success.

not sure if your dealer is playing you with some scary tactics game. Mercedes does configure its suspension damping rates and other handling characteristics as based on car running on oem runflats, I can’t see if you are to run regular tires to yield some devastating results to the suspension which will cause your warranty to be invalid.

My dealer doesn't care what tires or wheels I run.
But
I've never had to fix a transfer case with them.

I have had shocks, control arms, wheel bearings, axels, drive shafts, etc. etc. covered multiple times under warranty and they didn't bat an eye. They noted on my work order "balanced wheels and performed alignment as requested - aftermarket winter rims slight bends noted" but never ever have they said anything or denied anything.

Well, they only mostly sell run-flats and they probably only have MOE tires, they just want to sell you tires instead of you getting yourself. I don't think A/S 4 are sold at MB dealerships at all, could be wrong though.
