Thoughts on buying used 2018-2019 E63S. Coming from a c43
Hoping some owners can answer questions:
1. Love the AMG performance exhaust on the 43. Is the AMG performance exhaust standard on a 18-19 e63 standard?
2. Besides service history what to look for when buying a used e63?
3. What are some must have options?
4. Anything any other advice?
Thanks

2. Get a PPI
3. PE is recommended, acoustic sound/comfort package only if you want a dual personality experience, E 300 like when you just want a relaxing drive for example, although the suspension will still be way stiffer, air balancing only if you want perfume, massage seats are nice to have if you take the vehicle for long road trips, warmth and comfort if you want the armrest and door panels to be heated as well, stuff like soft close doors only if you want, THERMOTRONIC 3 zone climate control if you need it, Burmester 3D as mentioned already, it is a great upgrade, household socket in lieu of 12V at the rear if you need it, night package will look cool (imo) if you want, DISTRONIC if you are constantly in stop and go traffic or if you want it, Ceramic brakes if you want it.
4. Test drive one first is my advice and make sure the vehicle isn't affected by the misfire issues on certain model years (caused by bad injectors if I recalled correctly, it could had been the sparkplugs or coils)
I just went from a 16 c450 to an 18 e63s. I was hesitant at first too but overall I’m thrilled that I pulled the trigger. The e63s is everything your c43 is, taken to another level.
Try to find a CPO’d model. It will give you peace of mind. Must have options are subjective. For me it was performance exhaust, pano roof and standard seats. The performance seats looked nice and functional, but when I sat in them I knew right away I couldn’t live with them. Too stiff and bolstering was tight.
Also, when checking the carfax, see if it’s been regularly serviced at a an authorized MB dealership. Nothing wrong with independent shops doing the work, but it really boils down to what kind of parts they used for replacements (oem or otherwise).
Good luck and keep us updated.

Performance exhaust (None of the 18/19 models I've come across have this listed as an option)
Massage/ Warm seats
Pano roof
Standard seats
Heads up display
Certified pre owned
Service- spark plugs, transmission change, tire tread count, service history
Going to keep my search going till I find something with most of these options

I don't think you will find it good enough but in case you do, you don't have to force yourself to get one with if you can't find it.

The E63S would still be worth owning even if it didn't have a HUD.
For me typically the highest possible option vehicle I can find is what I want, however there are two exceptions for the W213. I wanted every option except sport seats and CCB. As cool as they are, my vehicle is a daily driver and based on nearly every review and owners input, the sports seats are good at looking good, or driving on a race track. In all other instances which is all the time the dynamic seats are superior, plus who doesn’t want to get a massage?
The CCB’s are also great, but when it comes time to replace parts be ready to either sell your vehicle or really bust into that bank account. For 100% of my driving situations the regular brakes work far beyond what I could ask for, and some professional drivers even say they prefer steals on the street for initial bite.
Besides that, I found a ‘19 E63 that had everything else. 3D audio was basically a must have for me. Besides sounding absolutely incredible, it adds really cool lighted speaker grills and rotating tweeters. So it really spruces up the look of the interior as well.
Distronic, the better headlights, and perf exh were also must haves, but thankfully most have those options. I have only seen 1 W213 to date without distronic and it was too bad because the car was absolutely perfect otherwise.
Not must have, but soft close doors, although minor…..I literally love using them and always just barely close my door and let it do the rest.
Acoustic and comfort packages and the sun protection stuff is probably not must haves, but also really appreciate it.
Compared to a C43, the E63S is gonna be absolutely insane.

Carbon ceramics are amazing compared to the standard brakes
HUD is really good
360 cameras really help avoid kerbs and parking as the w213 is a big car.
sports seats look the nuts and are pretty comfy
PE is a must, im pressing this button the most!
Distrionic is great too - I had this in previous cars but couldn't get it in the uk with the performance seats option.
good luck with the search
other than that rest is personal preference
I'm curious how ownership experience has been for folks who have had it for some time, in terms of overall reliability. My 2017 c43 has been amazing, 50k miles and still going strong.
