NEW W213 Cold air intake PTG or BLACKBOOST?

Apparently I chose the wrong 2, or at least 1 of the options was wrong.

updated/new poll with what seems to be the consensus on the best 2 options.

feel free to correct me if you feel differently.

There is really no question here. The question is how much money do you have haha / which has better VALUE. If money is no factor and you just want THE best, it's PTG.

the idea/questions/poll isn’t when money’s no object, it’s what each person thinks is best for them and their situation all things considered.

I also have a question about the Blackboost CAI. It states it gets rid of the recirc valve. So, this isn’t a VTA? Or is it? It seems like it’s saying it gets rid of it all together. Is this a true positive or negative? Or depends.

I always thought a diverted valve was actually better for performance compared to a bov, but correct me if I’m wrong.

furthermore what do people think is best? A VTA? True mechanical bov, or is it possible to add an aftermarket diverter valve?

Lol bro, you're over thinking it. PTG is better in ALL circumstances, as far as the intake goes. It's just more expensive. I'll bow out now lol. Good luck.

At that price point, wouldn't an intercooler make more sense? If you're looking to keep the IAT's down during hard driving, I'd go for an upgraded IC every time.

A few questions

Does the BB have the cool turbo sounds they did on the W212?

I've read the open cone style can throw codes without setting the CEL. Is this still true?

Does PTG ever have sales?

I just got my PTG intake. It's getting installed right now along with some catted downpipes.

That's interesting about the BB though... why would filter style throw codes? It certainly wouldn't RESTRICT airflow more than the stock intake... I'm not sure how the sensors are connected on the BB intake though, but I'd imaging that is more of the issue than the style filter.

The ambient air sensor (forgot the actual name) is the one that causes most of the issues with open-coned filters. There is no longer a vacuum that it used to seeing, instead, it sees air mostly ambient pressures most if not all the time

No I have not seen them ever have a sale on the W213 intake since its been out. I waited for no damn reason and had to buy it full price lol.

BTW mine is for sale now, 6-7 months old. Sold the car a month ago (vehicular ADD)

What’s the big benefit of an air intake like this on a mostly stock car? Mine is mostly stock. Besides aesthetics and maybe sound, notice anything else? it looks fantastic.

i used the BB intake to go from 11.0/11.1 consistent runs to 10.91/10.93 and a mile an hour increase under pretty much the same weather conditions.

I made about 8-10 runs before and after and most runs were right along the above times. I could not break into the 10s no matter what I did with launch tire pressures, etc etc. Tried over the course of two weekends multiple multiple runs and never did
Installed the BB intake and immediately went 10.98 and kept getting faster over time to a 10.91 best (tried my best to get a 10.8 but that didn't happen either lol)

The PTG was faster on my car over the BB intake (but I was already tuned at the time), so I would expect 1-2mph increase in trap speeds with the PTG over stock intake on a stock car.

PS, have you seen the filtration space on our cars? I mean the actual space air flows through on the stock filters? It's about half of the stock filters, and those are tiny.
PPS: After my TCU tune, car was faster overall (did ECU and TCU tune at the same time) but my 60' went slower from an average of stock -1.64 - 1.68 up to -1.72-1.76.
I was not ever able to drop below a 1.72 60' at the time with the BB intake. After PTG, I was back to the same range as stock tune while maintaining an increased trap speed on top.
I even pulled a 1.6 60' in 19 degree weather not trying with my daily driving tire pressures (I was only going for a trap speed run not et record at the time)

PTG probably better than Blackboost and with that high price point too bad PTG didn't include a carbon fibre intake outlet to replace the OEM ones.
