been in somewhat persistent contact with SA and just found out that the parts apparently will arrive 1st week in August. Supposedly . . . we'll see if that really is the case but regardless, car is scheduled to be worked on then . . .

I feel like that is the fate of my car as well. My dealer refuses to answer their phone (I hate them) so I'm going to go there tomorrow in person to confirm. It's been at the dealer for two weeks now.

the car has been at the dealer for two weeks? Were you told parts were at hand when you scheduled repair/dropped off vehicle?

I wasn't told anything. They said "We'll get back to you soon!" and then didn't call to follow up. I don't know what possessed me to deviate from my usual dealer.

not an overly professional way of going about taking care of customers . . . I'd likely be making a personal appearance as well trying to figure out where things are at and where they're headed . . . and what I could do to speed up the process . . .

Yes, needless to say I'm shocked a Mercedes dealer exists which such poor customer service.

Just got diagnosis from my MB dealer in scottsdale.
5600.00 to replace the RMS
5800.00 to replace the vapor separators.
Was told even though the vapor separators are part of the emissions warranty for some reason those are not covered under the 8/80 emission warranty. Not sure why, but im digging into it.
If it's the oil separators causing the problem and there is emissions parts that have failed should be cut and dry but of course they dont want to cover anything. My G63 is just barely out of factory warranty, luckily I did buy the extended warranty, which assuming they cover it, will pay for it self 2.5x with this one repair.

No,
5600.00 is the charge labor and parts for the rear main seal ONLY.
5800.00 is the charge labor and parts for the oil separators.
$11,400.00 total.
This is for a G63 AMG, not E63 AMG, not sure which one would require more work, but have to imagine its pretty much identical job, of anything I would have thought the G63 may be a little less due to more space under the car. But I dont know.
One would think some of the labor for one of the other would be being charged redundantly, especially if they have to remove the motor completely. They didnt give me a detailed break down, but seems to me if for one or the other the motor needs to be removed, but once its out, I wouldnt think they could charge 2 separate repair bills like that. But the warranty company is inspecting it and reviewing the repair, so we'll see.

go fast grocery getter wagon
No. that's beyond excessive. Is there another dealer you can go to ?
Parts should be similar and I can't see it would take up double ?? the labor time to fix.
My E63S fix involved removing the motor and tranny completely.

If I have to pay out of pocket I'll be taking it to an independent AMG performance shop I know the owner at. Then ill also be cancelling the warranty, and selling the car after its repaired. LOL.
I think they separated the charges because I think theyre anticipating the warranty company only fixing the rear main seal unless they can somehow prove the vapor separators are failed as well.
I can already tell the dealer is setting me up for that type of deal at which point ill say fine, dont replace the vapor separators, and ill be back in 20-30K miles and you can do the rear main seal again on your dime (If I still have the car)

Note that the transmission oil needed to be drained/filled to replace the RMS.

S63 cab here. Wondering who is your amg shop here in phoenix area. I have a great mechanic for mb that comes to you house for any work. North scottsdale always seems high. Always bought my cars elsewhere and only used them for warranty stuff. Hope it all goes well.

They aren't specifically a AMG shop, but they are a high end exotic car tuner, a lot of M cars, AMGs, Audi, and exotics they regularly rebuild, tune etc.

I'll add the cost at this stage isnt relevant to me. if I get told warranty wont be covering it. For sure will be shopping and having some problems. But Im sure the warranty company will be dealing with them to negotiate down the cost of the repair, if theyre covering it.

Screen shot from the service advisor today regarding the repair. This is for G63 AMG, I didnt know the oil separators are in different location. Seems odd to me, but suppose it's accurate. News to me.

My service advisor was very nice when I met him at opening today but I gave him an earful about not returning my messages. He, of course, was super apologetic as he really wanted a good score come survey time . Anyways, RMS and oil vapor separators are replaced and he mentioned it was very odd that my car had this happen as he usually only sees it on the bigger 63 cars. I don't think they made very many GLC63s in comparison to other models though.

Going to look at a 213 e63 later this week. I will be able to get it on a lift - will be looking for any rms leak sigs for sure . How much can be seen with the shields on ? Just trying to plan ahead - taking it i'm going to need tools (won't have any flying in) to remove a few of the under shields at a minimum.
