How long are you planning to own your E63S

Since we're now at the end of the W213 E63S production, I was curious as to how long the current owners plan to keep their vehicles? For those acquiring the Final Edition vehicles variants, are you planning to use it as DD or just store it as a collector's piece.

go fast grocery getter wagon
Speaking as of today, my e63 wagon ownership will be done in September after owning it for nearly 6 yrs.

it’s unfortunate that i have to give this up as there have been many expensive repairs i had endured this past 1 yr or so … in the end, this wagon i truly loved to drive from day 1 onwards. It’s just sad that the next gen is a no go as it is no longer a v8.

repairs i had done after expiration of warranty.
- air suspension
- electronic issues
- ignition coils 2x
- rms
- cv shafts

I had an E53, and knew I wanted to get the E63s before V8 went away, so when I heard 2023 was last MY for V8 in this line, I traded in the E53 and got a 2023 E63s for my DD.

I plan to keep it for at least 7 or 8 years, if not longer. I'll re-evaluate regularly but I intend to keep it longer than any other car I've ever owned.

I suspect the resale value will be half decent even then but that's not one of my motivations, just a nice side effect when it comes time.

I've had mine for 2 years and I plan on keeping it for another 2 or 60k miles, whichever comes first. I absolutely love this car.

I took delivery of my 2021 E63s on 4/27/21. It just turned over 10,000 miles. Still looks and drives like new. I can say it is my favorite auto of all I've owned. I'm 70 and plan to keep it as long as I can drive, unless something earth shattering forces me to change my mind. It is a joy to drive and still makes me smile.

I took delivery of my wagon on 2/4/21. The current mileage is 18623 as it is my DD. I usually turn my vehicles in at the end of my 3 year lease, but I've decided to keep this one for at least another 4 years (I purchased a 7 year, 100,000 mile extended Mercedes warranty when I took delivery of the car).

I've tried out some other vehicles as a potential replacement and nothing even comes close. 😀

It still drives and looks like new and it has every option (except the CF engine cover) that was configurable. My only warranty repair has been a windshield washer container that developed a crack.

I have no intention in selling mine as it does everything I need a car to do as well as a car can EXCEPT this pending RMS issue, topped off by needing new brakes, that may very well put me over the top and cause me to rethink my original plan . . . And then the question will be: How to sell and what to buy next . . .

Buying a new car is a "Diminished Return" nowadays, especially that engines are getting smaller, cars getting heavier resulting in things like the fun factor dropping, prices are also higher and exhaust notes are getting quieter and/or simply worse in terms of the tone. Can also argue new cars used cheaper materials than previous cars.

I bought mine in October 2021 (2021 MY) and would like to hold onto it for 5-7 years, if not longer, but I’m certainly concerned about out of warranty related issues. So far, all I’ve had to do is replace an engine mount but there are times where I feel like something else is about to spring up including this AM when I couldn’t get the car out of reverse in my car.

The biggest challenge in getting rid of it is the lack of an alternative. I’ve always driven coupes, so I’d likely to go back to owning a coupe for fun/DD and buy a midsize suv for family duties since this car by itself can do both of those jobs without equal. An RS6 is an option, but I know those have their own reliability concerns. Everything P car related is probably too expensive for me at this juncture.

Keeping her Dirty

Got my Wagon May 2021. Just 9255 miles to date. Will hold on to car for another 2-years since decided to keep it after MBUSA approved a buyback last Fall for it. Took $5K cash option since ABQ dealership fixed Gremlins after nearly 3-months. Not sure what to replace it with since Subaru stopped making the Manual Transmission Crosstrek in 2022. Maybe a 2026 All Terrain or AMG GT V8? Either I go very fast or very slow...lol

Would even consider a 2026 Peterbuilt Diesel Big Rig Truck as a DD if keep NM primary residence. If wife relocates to the DC area to finish out her USDA career will sell the ICE and might consider an EV motorcycle or $1600 electric Bicycle.

Washed E63s Wagon yesterday morning and attended a Car Show at local Kia Dealership. Did not enter show as Contestant because it would not be fair so parked off on the sidelines next to NM Trooper in Explorer without the Ecoboost engine. On the way out from show cruised past all the contestants. When got near the Mopar contingent had to come to a complete stop to avoid a Rabid Scat Pack Cougar who wanted a ride as she fell to her knees. Just gave her a few pops and crackles for her enthusiasm... the best lady on the lot was NM Trooper who resembled Gal Gadot and will soon transfer to Recruitment Duty with her Hot Babe Abs Poster good looks and Tactical Bearing. Drove back home and watched Mercedes take 2-3 Podium Finish at Spanish F1 GP on DVR.

AMG wagon might be a keeper past Warranty?

Yes, as long as your New Vehicle Limited Warranty has not expired you can still purchase an extended warranty from Mercedes.

I purchased my ‘19 E63S back in Dec of ‘22 and this is without a doubt the best car I’ve owned. Usually at this point in my ownership I’m already getting the itch for something else, but I still cannot get enough of this car. Even tho my track records shows I go through cars often, I actually bought an extended warranty because I had a hunch that this could be THE car I finally hold onto. I’m over 7,000 miles into ownership and this car is amazing. Currently sitting at about 38,000 miles and I’ve done all the maintenance so far myself. Engine oil, rear diff fluid, brake fluid, replaced brakes (which unlike popular belief does not have to be expensive for the stealies), engine and cabin air filters, battery. All very easy and on par with any other car I’ve owned.

I agree that there isn't anything out there that can compare, or interests me. The combination of some luxury, decent styling, comfort, and most importantly performance makes this the perfect car for me. As long as I can drive I want to have this one available.

Harris- If I'm not overwhelmed by temptation to go electric with either Model S Track Pack or next generation Taycan Sport Turismo, I plan on keeping forever. Recently had new Model S for a few days and I was wildly impressed.

Please stop posting F1 results. This is the second time you've ruined it for me before I've had a chance to watch the race.

Sorry Alan you had over 24-hours to catch up. What were you doing Baking Cookies? Mercedes won't be competitive until next season IMHO. LH should have retired after 2021. Wonder who won yesterday's Race?

I was wavering on changing to the EQE AMG SUV, but after driving the EQE SUV 500 I was not overly impressed with the execution. The power was there, but I was not enamored with the interior arrangement and the driving position. I know that the AMG version will have the hyper screen display, but that will not fix the overall impression that I had (Oh, there are artificial engine sounds on the AMG model too). It's probably going to take another EV iteration for me to switch from my current ride. When I got back into my wagon, I took a few moments to look with fresh eyes on the interior and had more appreciation after driving the SUV. I'll never use the power of the engine that I have, but I love the overall package and design.

Sorry, I just can't get myself to even consider a Tesla vehicle. There are currently about 30 in my current development ranging from S, X , and 3 and none of them turn my head when they go down the street. How do you spell boring? I do like the styling of the Audi E-Tron Q8 SUV but not enough to change.

Fell free to call me in the future if you feel tempted to move toward the dark side.

@HBerman , I share your sentiment of Tesla designs. They do have great technology and performance, but their design language reminds me of the GM EV1, if anybody remembers those.

Took delivery of my 2020 wagon in November 2019. It's been a joy to own and drive, but I could never bring myself to daily drive it during the winter. The lack of a spare tire is big problem for me, as I make several trips a year to "remote" locations, that would be very far away from a 20" replacement tire. So, after enjoying it a bit more, I'll be putting it up for sale, and selling off the accessories I've accumulated, including an AMG indoor car cover, MB crossrails, and MB 19" winter wheels/tires. Stay tuned. 😉

As long as reasonably possible….

Not a fan of the direction AMG is headed with the PHEV-6.

As an owner of Buick GNs, sleeper cars are my style. I’ve owned the w211,w212, and 213 - 63 AMGs, with a C63 mixed in along the way. To me the E63 has always been ultimate fire breathing sleeper.

Call me nostalgic, but the E63 will never have the same emotional appeal to me, sans V8.

I hate to think the next sleeper might need to be an M5.
