It pops up
So I keep I pressing it down, mostly, but can’t get it all the way down with all my weight. It’ll pop back up after a day…
It's held down by friction against the rubber trim. I've had this issue on my "B" pillar trim on the driver's side for both of my E63S vehicles, but the movement has only been 1/8 inch at worst. There are no clips in the area. You might try some 3M black silicon sealer at the back corner of the trim joint.
With great certainty it's either defective trim and/or not installed properly. The doors themselves actually have grooved metal lips which receive the rubber molding attached to your trim. The trim is high quality. More than likely the rubber molding on your trim is defective/bowed. I have a complete set of window trim from my 2021 wagon that I just looked at in my garage. The three straight bottom trim pieces with rubber molding (no glue or adhesive) on either side of our cars lift straight up and out from the metal channels built into the top of our doors. Demand new trim pieces be ordered for your car.
Agreed. I've only have 1 trim piece that lifts a little on the driver door which I push down maybe every 2 months. The trim engages properly, but will lift at the b-pillar a small amount in that time. All other pieces stay in place. Nothing to really fix at this point. BTW, I'm ordering the AMG SUV today, production is December. My wagon will be going back to the dealer. I'm receiving a $20K cap reduction on the new lease plus refund of the extended warranty that I bought when I first leased the car. I'll post when the transaction occurs if anyone is interested.
OK So I took it to my favorite dealer who I love. Dropped the car off, gave no back story - just said the door trim is lifting on all 4 doors. We never even went and looked at my car together as it got checked in so fast it was already in the back when I sat down in front of my S.A.
S.A. called me now "Just want to let you know we ordered all new door trim".
THAT'S how you service a customer. I will shout it from the hilltops OAKVILLE MERCEDES is the bomb. Man they have a great service dept.

I find it hard to understand how all of the trim is lifting unless all of the rubber which is attached to the trim is defective. It's more likely that the metal channel into which the rubber on the trim fits has some oil or other contamination present. Did you ceramic coat everything? Hopefully, my assumption is wrong and you just got a bad batch of trim. Good luck.

Maybe could be seems weird but I've been surprised before. The only thing that got close to the trim was Griots Glass Sealant on the windows. The doors were traditionally sealed and waxed. No ceramics or weird hybrid stuff going on. The pillars were buffed out as they had some swirls on them already at delivery. I did have Ceramics applied to the wheels and interior, mostly because I like my detailer and when he upsells to make his visit more worthwhile I say "yes" a lot.

It's most probably either a recalled item that prevents certification or a part that is normally installed at the VPC. Doubtful it is a trim issue. However, it must be something that can't be corrected by the delivering dealer. MBUSA is certainly not handling your situation in a forthright manner. Sorry that this is happening.
Thanks Harris. I wouldn't really care if only they gave some explanation or consideration. Hate feeling like I'm doing them a favor, or even inconveniencing them, trying to buy a $155k car. It's the principle of it all.

If this was my transaction, I would cancel it! Watch what will happen next from your dealer! I bet you will get some movement one way or another. I certainly wouldn't put up with this situation for another minute. These dealers are not focused in the entirety of the transaction nor do they seem to care about the customer experience. I had an C-class car years ago which got stuck at the port in Germany for 3 months waiting on a crankshaft replacement. I cancelled that and got another build that was coming into the US. My salesperson handled everything with respect and full communication. Time to pull the trigger.

I dunno. When I cancelled mine they were really eager to give me my money back. As if they were relieved. The problem with the E wagon is it’s not just another C….

Stockholm syndrome! Just keep the abuse coming. No immediate consequences for the dealer.
New trim came in.
Issue solved!
No idea what was wrong with the original trim. It just wouldn’t seat properly no matter what. New trim fits perfect on every door and edge. No issues at any corner.

I noticed it on my E450 Sedan 2023. They ordered new passenger door and driver door trim. They fixed it under warranty no questions asked. Today when leaving target, they're lifting. AGAIN! This is not a tesla. This is an $84,000 car. While I love this car, that is not cool and visually noticeable. I'll make louder complaint now to them.
