My biggest issue with these wireless adapters is the delay with inputs. I used a couple different adapters and couldn’t get over the 2-5 second delay sometimes when putting inputs (like skipping a song). The feedback would always be delayed. Does anyone experience this with Ottocast or the Carlinkit?
I’ve been using wired since but still trying to find a good adapter that doesn’t have this issue.
ottocast has been pretty good for me. i don't notice any significant difference vs the car's wired carplay
Carlinkit started to suck badly after a year. Constant audio skipping every few minutes or less, screen freezes for a second, unresponsive interface. No amount of software updates or messing around with the settings would fix it.
Got this instead, connects very fast, almost as fast as built-in wireless Carplay in my newer GLE, and no audio skipping. Also very responsive to input, much less lag compared to Carlinkit (when that garbage worked).

Thanks for this. Have had the same carlinkit for years now. Ever since I got the newest iphone, I get audio drop outs (2-3 seconds) every 30 minutes or so. Ordered the one you suggested, looking forward to testing it out.
I swear I tried carlinkit l, ottocast and numerous others. All have audio drops on my 2019. They all went back and I use a cable until something reliable comes around. Love the idea, hate the execution.

Just tried this Wireless Adapter for my Android Samsung S24+ and 2017 E43 AMG Estate. It's piece of crap.... would not connect to my phone, took many attempts and restating of phone.
will not auto connect to cars headunit, have to manually make it connect every time.
when i eventually get it to connect, playing music, it stutters every 5sec, not able to listen too.
My car doesn't have the usb socket up in the front cup holder console, only a 12v cig socket, the only carplay/AA usb is in the armrest area which is a pain to access to use.
So until i can afford to buy all the stuff needed for a Benzninja coding, i'm stuck with no radio (jap import) and will have to plug in my phone every time....

My CarLink has worked flawlessly for years with my Samsung. Most of the complaints seem to be with iPhones. I wonder if it's an incompatibility with Apple audio?

It's worth mentioning that Carlinkit like all the other wireless CarPlay adapters are not Apple Certified, so they don't have access to the proper specs and no way to ensure that these things actually work correctly with CarPlay. I've commented on this before. With Android being open source, it's easier to reverse engineer protocols.

I see. So the only way is to get an oem solution, perhaps if someone finds a way to put the MBUX 2.0 hardware in the W213.

FWIW, as far as I know, there's a bunch of settings that you can tweak with these things to try to make it operate correctly. There was a fairly recent thread from somebody that was using a Carlinkit and had issues with it. I don't recall the specific issues and whether they were using an Android or iPhone, but it turned out that they had one of the settings incorrect and it was causing the issue. Basically you have to configure these things correctly. There isn't really one configuration that fits all. Goes back to what I said that these things don't fully adhere to the protocol specs, and instead give a bunch of settings that can be tweaked in order to work around potential issues and incompatibilities.
Well, on a second thought, it looks like it will be a little too long? Do you mind connecting the two and posting a picture and/or post a picture of it connected to the vehicle? It might get bent or damaged if you store stuff in the centre console.
I've tried probably half a dozen wireless dongles with my S24 ultra and all of them have continuous audio dropouts. So annoying! Every one of them went back and I just use a wire now. If somebody has any suggestions I'm open to anything because it was convenient.
