2023 E63S AMG - Grey Magno
Picked up this beauty on Friday 9/22

After quite a search I was able to locate one about 5 hours away. Made the trip on Friday to get it. I asked the dealer to not do any prep on the car and I wanted to look at it before I did the paperwork. My sales person called to get the car pulled to the front but it took what I felt like was 20 minutes. The sales manager comes up to me and he's like I'm sorry but there is a problem with your car. Then proceeds to tell me that the shop boy as he was pulling out of the garage cut the corner short and curbed my driver side wheel and damaged the tire (you can see it in the photo below). They fixed the wheel pretty good and the manager ordered me a new wheel and tire which they will mount and send to my house this week sometime. They told me to keep the existing wheel tire as a spare which I thought was nice of them. They also gave us bunch of AMG hats, shirts, mugs etc.

Anyways, the car is an absolute animal. I'm taking it easy during the break in but can't wait to open this beast up!

Big disappointment with the car is that it doesn't have wireless car play and the carplay screen is not full screen. If I'm wrong on both of these please let me know but I just have a hard time believing a car this new and this expensive would lack both of those? WTF was MB thinking?

Anyways some photos below

Stoked for you

I tried to order a wagon June of 21. 27 months later and a long trail of tears, I bought the Autotrader black one out of CA, sight unseen. Seller was no foolin and I still pinch myself every time I get in.
These cars are off the hook.
You’ve entered a a whole new universe.
Congrats on the new whip!

Congrats! Be proud!

You have to buy an aftermarket wireless CarPlay adapter. And you're right it doesn't go full-screen, not sure if there's some coding answer to that or not though.

Congrats on the vehicle. I’ve heard of Carplay not being full screen on the new ones as well which is really strange. I have a ‘19 and Carplay always takes up the full screen, so why the newer ones don’t is strange.

I'd be more disappointed with the unsightly blank spot where the IWC clock used to be rather than Apple CarPlay.

Looks great! Have a look at the missing chunk from the LF tire. I would replace it, but it's a personal choice.

so curious enough

on my 18, my Car Play does not go full screen. The "left most" portion of the display shows the Car Play logo (where you set it to dynamic, navigation, etc).

On my wifes CLS450... her MB DOES do full screen on the Apple Play. It has the same control system as my car so I assume it is NTG 5.5 also.

So I see this as two possible issues.
1. Apple play allows Full screen while Car play is limited. (If using the CLS450 as the example). This is usually indicative of the OS for Car Play and i do not think there is a way to seperately update without gaining root access to the image.

2. both Apple play & Car play do not allow full screen (will test in my car for verification).

my guess is that option 1 is the true statement.

Apple play and car play should be the same thing though. My car is in the shop now getting full PPF done so I can't take a photo but when I hook up my phone to the car via a cable and launch apple car play i just get a small square apple car play screen in the middle of the big screen in center dash screen. There is a significant black unused space on both the left and right sides of the screen.

That's the way it is in MBUX in the facelift W213, and was a common criticism. It's full screen in the updated MBUX in newer cars like the facelifted GLE.

I just picked up a new GLE for my wife and the MBUX is not full screen in hers, just a fairly small representation of the screen . . . where on my E63S it is full screen . . .

Your CarPlay/Android Auto is full screen in your E63s? What model year? Did you have coding or something done? Do you know what version of MBUX you have? Also I assume it's the standard NTG 6?

its a '19 and I never had anything changed, bone stock except tires. I would have to look up what version MBUX I have which I'd have to do after my shift is over . . .

2019 W213 is pre-FL COMAND. MBUX arrived in 2021 W213. Updated MBUX 2.0 arrived in 2024 for GLE.

ok just tested this on my wife's 21 CLS450... sure enough

Apple car play uses the full screen
Android Car play is NOT full screen (has the little Android Car play in the dynamic section).

This was done using a Galaxy Fold 5.

My "guess" was spot on in that the Android car play application within the NTG is not capable of full screen without reconfiguring which would require coding or root access to the OS directly..

Hot looking E63. At least dealer was honest and offered fair resolution. Other than CarPlay, hope you're enjoying the car. Congrats.
