W213 E63s Pad/Rotor Costs

Dealer quoted 5k just for the front pads/rotors...front brakes are around ~4mm and there's "wear on the rotors". Only 30k miles with no tracking. Pads I get, but A) that sounds expensive even if it was for both front and rear pads/rotors, and B) can't I just replace the pads?

I prefer having everything done at the same dealer for service history but this sounds way too high...thoughts?

go fast grocery getter wagon
OEM factory front rotors are expensive. But $5K for just the front job is indeed expensive.

Dealership quotes for replacing the brakes on an AMG will be astronomical. They will always go for a complete replacement, which is the general recommendation. Rotors have a minimum thickness, so in order to know if you need to replace them, you have to measure them. There's about 2 mm of allowed wear on the front rotors and about 1 mm for the rear rotors. There isn't much excessive material on rotors these days to keep the weight at the absolute minimum. The front rotors usually don't last for a second set of pads, but the rears generally do, because they do less of the braking.

You don't have to get brakes done at a dealership. They are wear items just like tires. Any shop can do your brakes just as well. Get your own parts from FCP Euro and take it to an indy. I got full brake replacement front and rear done for about $2000 with parts from FCP Euro and having them installed at my Indy. FCP Euro also has lifetime replacement, so subsequent rotors, pads etc. are free. My last front rotors were free as it was the second set I ordered from FCP. Just have to ship back the worn parts. My dealership also wanted something around $5k and I only laughed at it.

Same - this is not a difficult job and the guides on FCPEuro are thorough. Easily can save more than half on the cost of the replacement.

Even on FCP Euro, don't buy OEM pads/rotor, get brembo ones, same thing for less than 1/2 price.

rear ceramic pads installed last week, $825, it's what I love about ceramic brakes, no rotors
