Mine is a 2019 with 62k miles. Had it since 10k miles. Going to keep it forever as its fully built 9 second car. Retired from daily driving duties, but is still capable of being dd.

I’ve seen a bunch over 100k miles.

Im at 50k today and figure I’ll keep the car another 5 years doing 12k miles a year, so I’d be at 110k at which point I’d likely sell it on.

sounds like most folks don’t think that’s a bad plan?

Saw a post not too long ago in an fb group. There was one listed in washington with 137k miles on it . Not much service in the carfax unfortunately - was curious . Multiple commenters were up there as well , saw a few 105k- 110k- 98k , was happy to see. Some had thermostats fail , otherwise it was just regular maint.

92k Miles on 2018. @~90k repaired RMS & oil separators, 2 transmission oil cooler pumps, and lower oil pan / drain plug that were seeping. Can't think of any car I could/would replace it with for similar value - feels so solid. Planned on keeping it until 99k, but might end up never selling.

Those with high miles, what's been your experience with encountering the dreaded issues (RMS, etc..). I have 35k on my 2019 S213 (bought at 13k) and the thing hasn't let me down once yet. But the comments on the RMS threads always give me a heart attack. I always felt the probability of these major failures was less than what's implied on forum posts, given negative selection bias. Curious your thoughts? I do have a Platinum Fidelity warranty on the car, good through 85k miles and 5 more years, which hopefully should payout in the event of major failures.

RMS issue is not really associated with high mileage cars. It’s more common for the 2018 and 2019 being reported here.

There are reasonable theories that if the car is driven often and aggressively from time to time, but more than just a garage queen or a weekend beast, the engine gets up to temp more frequently and stays at appropriate temperature is more frequently and those vapor separators don't get clogged and subsequently there isn't higher crank case pressure leading to RMS seal failure.

there isn't nearly enough actual anecdotal data to confirm if this is plausible and there's only a couple people that are reporting very high mileage vehicles that don't have RMS failures in the 2018 and 2019 category. But it makes sense, $0.02

i would take it a bit further...

I would say that this is just my opinion and only my opinion...RMS failure is from short drive stints along with garage queens.

When i drive my car.. it is a minimum of 20+ miles one way... So both the engine AND transmission get up to temperature all the time to include dead of winter. I avoid short drives (just walk for that).

Other thing i ALWAYS do.. i start the car AND i ALWAYS let it drop to normal RPM's before driving off. No, not let it sit until it gets to operating temprature or 15 minutes idle.. start.. wait until RPM go to normal and off i go. that is maybe less than 1 minute a bit more if really cold (sub zero F tempratures).

Of course that is just from the highest mileage W213 currently... your mileage will vary.

Points noted. I've found in life that "anecdotal but reasonable recommendations" such as the above often win out despite not being scientifically proven to satisfy the academics. Will make sure to strictly follow the above prescription for my car and keep my fingers crossed

Update..up to 143k+ now...ignore tpms error as that is because winter tires do not have tpms.

Theory: "RMS failures are from short drive stints or garage-queen cars"

Not sure that correlates, as I bought my 2019 in Feb '21 with 24K miles on it... in other words it had been thoroughly and frequently driven (12K/yr) by prior owner. This car is pristine with full service records and ext warranty. RMS failure happened within 500 miles of my purchasing it. Repaired under warranty no problem, but dealer said it would have been close to $7K without, due mainly to the need to drop the entire driveline.

The bad news is the oil separator used in the 2018-2019 was a poor design for the 2018+ cars as it was carried over from the W212 (M157) engines and was not designed to handle the higher boost levels and blow-by of the M177 (our engine). This is per my MB dealer SA. This issue is therefore likely to affect most 18s and 19s if they are driven the way they should be. The good news: (a) the replacement part has been re-designed (again, per my SA) and solves the problem, and (b) that the revised part was part of the original engine builds for 2020s on and even some late-production 2019s.

Great inputs guys. I’ ll make sure my “garage queen “ gets S/S++ exercise at least once a month to stay healthy

I have an 18 E63 and a couple months back my RMS went. She sat for a very long time with the old owner and she sits for days at a time with me. This theory makes sense to me. It's similar to the old adage, "use it or loose it."

Mine was an 18 and i drove it everyday and with annual mileage in the 13,000 miles (21,000km). My RMS happened in my 5yrs of ownership.
