[w213] Complete Air Balance Retrofit Guide

Recently wrapped up an Air Balance retrofit and decided to create a detailed guide for the community (see attachment). Everything's working perfectly now: the fragrance falcon pops out when you open the glove box, the screen alerts you if you remove it, you can adjust all the settings, and you get that nice scent when you start the car. Since I struggled to find good info during my install, especially for wiring and finding the fragrance hole, I figured I'd write up a guide for others taking on this project. I did this on my x290, but it should work the same for w213, w222, and x253 models, so sharing in these sub-forums as well. Enjoy

That’s impressive. I just got my new CLE53 and it doesn’t have the option P53. Where are you located? Would you like to install it for me if I buy the OEM kit?

Thanks, I don't really like doing this kind of stuff unless it's on my own but I'm guessing you can bring the guide to a shop that works on Mercedes and they can do it. They might not even need the guide, depending on their experience with retrofits and wiring.

They should, unless they were damaged in the accident, which I doubt.

Not entirely sure.. if the 212 is just the same thing as a 213 but station wagon, then I would assume the front parts are the same. If you look in your dash and start seeing a bunch of parts labeled 213 then odds are even better. Really you just want to make sure the LIN wire is the same, if so then it'd work.

Those are missing any security, it can be installed without any issues.

This is correct. You just hook it up, code it and you're good. You could perform a teach-in in Xentry if you want. I did, eventually after a few months when I was in there anyways. It did nothing lol. I mean, I can actuate it in Xentry now if I want, but other than for diagnosis purposes like actuating or utilizing features in Xentry.. a simple plug and play will work just fine.

You can buy them on Amazon, search for Boxiti

No, if you have the parts that's all you need, then have to update the HVAC ECU settings as well the way the guide mentions.
